I have a 2025 Hybrid AWD and I am hoping someone can offer some thoughts on the the thud I am hearing a feeling when decorating around 12 mph. It sounds like it is coming from the rear but not 100% sure. This happens when either lightly braking or coasting and in all modes. I owned a 2023 hybrid and did not experience this condition.

Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Stop decorating when driving (sorry, couldn't help myself).

I would take it in the dealer immediately. Not a good sign.

I can't remember what but something in the storage compartment under the rear seat was rolling around and making an awful racket every time I braked before I removed it.

I would say to visit the dealer. I don't hear it on my truck.

Mine does it too. Sometimes more noticeable than others, not sure what disengages when you turn traction control off but that does eliminate it when you do. I don’t drive the truck very often so I haven’t taken it to the dealer for any feedback. I assumed they’d say it’s normal like anything else. All that said it drives and run perfectly fine.

Most likely the AWD system under 12 mph it will disengage, there was a guy with a Tremor where he broke the piece that connects to the rear he still could drive it but was only front wheel drive. He posted that since it broke he could hear the engagement of the system. My 23 Tremor does this as well so I just take turns faster than 12 mph.šŸ˜€

There is/was a technical bulletin (22-2493) for that repair on '22 Mavs. It was happening to my '22. I showed the honor roll nominee at the service counter a printout of it and he said that if I gave it to him it would not be covered in the warranty. I had to just complain about it and let them diagnose it. So dumb. Anyway, they "found it" and fixed it under the direction of the bulletin. Why do we make things so difficult. Search "22-2493" within the forum and you'll find more info.

What was ā€œfoundā€ and fixed? I assumed it was drivetrain related since turning traction control off eliminated the noise.

They ran a reprogram of something. Not sure really. I just know it put something "to sleep" and they couldn't "wake it back up". Yes, I'm being serious I just don't recall the exact language they used. Anyway it took about a week for them to get the code to fix it. Keep in mind that I'm rolling a '22. They've presumably learned some things since then.

You know those darn cakes can’t do

Thanks for the suggestion and after turning traction control off the thud went away. I have an appointment for oil change and will inquire about this ā€œfixā€.

Just wondering if you ever figured out what is causing this thumping noise when braking (decelerating)? I'm having the same issue with my 25 AWD Hybrid where I hear a noticeable thump (or thunk) which sounds like it's coming from the rear when I'm slowing down and I notice it always happens around 13 (or 12) MPH like clockwork.

I'm 100% certain it didn't do this when it was new and I'm not exactly sure when it started but it's been doing for awhile now. I've had the truck for 5 or 6 months now and have almost 3500 miles on it but this noise is pretty concerning. Just wondering if you were able to find out anything?

Also @Mox4615 are you still having the noise and were you able to figure out what the issue is? Anyone else experiencing this thumping noise from the rear at around 13 or 12 mph?

So is your 23 Tremor still making a thumping noise around 12 or 13 mph when slowing down and on the brakes? How long has it been making this noise? Have you ever taken it in and had it looked at? I have a 25 AWD Hybrid Mav and it's making the thumping noise when slowing down and braking at around 13 mph just like clockwork. Any ideas what the noise is? I'm positive my truck didn't do it when I got it new but something sure doesn't sound right now. Like others in this thread, if I turn off the traction control the noise magically disappears.

I messaged a few other members on this thread who said they had the issue hoping they would follow up and have some information but I have yet to hear back anything. I did start my own thread on the issue if your interested:
