Thoughts on the Drivers cockpit

I’ve had my 2024 Hybrid XLT for some time now and I just cannot get comfortable in the thing. It seems that almost every time I drive the truck I am making seat &/or steering wheel adjustments trying to find the correct position for myself. I’ve never found it so hard to get comfortable in a car/truck before.

I’m 28 years old and have owned & driven all types of cars and trucks. The ergonomics of the Mavericks driver cockpit are all out of whack (in my opinion, of course). The gas pedal is further away than the brake pedal. Both pedals are too high. The seats lumbar support is too low. The bottom cushion of the seat is firm and angled up causing harsh pressure (over a short to medium amount of time. (e.g. 10min)). The steering wheel is angled away from the driver…I could go on and on.

I’m a 5’11” male weighing in at 170lbs. I feel like I’m a middle of the road human in terms of size & build. I should be able to get comfy in any vehicle, I’d think.

Personally I think the drivers cockpit is aweful in the maverick. Which is sad to say because besides that, I absolutely love the truck. It’s just a bummer because this is one of the most important parts of a vehicle and your experience with it.

How do you feel about your truck? Have you made any modifications to improve the comfort of your cockpit?

I’m 6’ 185. My “complaints” are the seat cushion is a little short and the left side (door) arm rest is not big enough/long enough.
I put a little padded armrest cover on the center console and made it much more comfortable. ($10 Amazon). Otherwise the seat has lots of adjustment and the steering wheel has a pretty good range of adjustment.
But the most comfortable vehicle I ever owned was a’95 F-150 XLT. Like sitting in a barcolounger! I should’ve kept that one.

Ok, still room for some experience there kid. I'm 63 and have actually driven hundreds of different vehicles over the past 50 years. In my opinion the Maverick is one of the most comfortable vehicles I have driven. I just finished a 1000 mile journey across ten states in my 2022 Maverick 2.0 Lariat and must say that comfort was not an issue. Everything is in reach, the seat is just as comfortable as my 2019 Edge Titanium. Do I wish it had an 8 way adjustable instead of a 6, sure. But it is far from the worst cockpit in vehicle history.

The seats are way more comfortable my wife's Escape than they are in my Maverick. The Escape seats are deeper and wider.
That is a lot more thigh support.

Haha funny you mention this. I guess there was one thing I didn't like! I also had this issue. Here's the first thing I bought after driving my Maverick the first time.

Love my Maverick! I’m 6’1, in my late 60’s and weigh a hefty 240. No comfort problems here!
