I'm just having doubts lately. To put it into perspective, our maverick hybrid has been great for the last 18 months/10k miles, we love it. It's been flawless aside from some touchy brakes, and it doing the hybrid shudder a few times, both issues which have seemed to go away permanently after doing the relevant software updates.

But I have to say, seeing all the issues on the forums is starting to get to me. It doesn't help that my brother, who's a psychologist, says I'm very bad at what's known as catastrophizing. That's basically my brain running through worst case scenarios 24/7 and convincing myself they're gonna happen.

So I'm kind of at this crossroads, where my truck is basically perfectly reliable, and enjoyable to own aside from all the recall notices. Yet I'm becoming increasingly concerned that "any day now" I'm gonna have axle issues, or my truck is gonna die in traffic, or catch on fire. I want to go to my dealership and get the software updates done that were just discussed today to prevent the issue with mavericks randomly dying, but I'm worried those software updates will cause other issues, which seems to be the case with some owners.

I don't want to get rid of a truck that's been great to us. But at the same time, I'm tired of stressing over all the could happens. What would you do if you were me? Keep it, sell it, wait to see if it has issues?
Sell it, go buy a new Camry, and move on with your life.

Not really. After I ordered the Tremor it arrived in 4 months.

Semantics aside though - I drove my Tremor for 9 months and 8,500 miles and the fine folks at CarMax gave me $3,200 more than what I paid for it.

The local Honda dealership is a CarMax wholesaler so they honor the CarMax trade in value no questions asked. I asked them to knock $1,000 off MSRP on a Civic EX (the cheapest vehicle I could stomach driving on a daily basis) which they agreed to and I walked out with a 2024 Civic EX 1.5T and an $8,700 check.

Every mile I drive in that soulless tin can vs. the Tremor I add approximately 3,000 shares of SHIB, or for every two miles driven - a share of DOGE.

Plus that $8,700 went right into my Apple High Yield Savings (4.5% compounded monthly) which is providing me another $30+ a month for penny cryptos.

It was strictly a financial decision.

People online are quicker to complain. For every person online complaining about the Maverick, there are likely 100 people not online who love it.

After my recent issues, I would get rid of it. They will end up screwing you over. I was a loyal ford person until today. I’m going to trade it in since Ford response was ridiculous and unfair to the consumer.

Yes I’m the small percentage that is complaining but this is pretty bad.

You aren't completely wrong 😆. The Kia Rio we owned prior to the maverick was pretty awful. I think you guys are right, I'm just overthinking it. It seems like most of the more common issues with the maverick, especially the hybrid, can be traced back to the 12v battery one way or another. So while it can be annoying if it does come up, I suppose one way to look at it is it's just a relatively cheap battery if it does go wrong. Beyond the 12v issues, it seems like the only other relatively common thing is issues with the CV joints on the axles. I've heard that's also quite annoying to deal with, but it's only a few hundred bucks to replace those from what I've been told.

So even worse case scenario, most of the issues with mavericks, if they do arise, aren't super expensive, or difficult to fix. It's not like a battery pack going out on a Tesla for instance where you're looking at a repair bill in the tens of thousands of dollars.
Let me tell you about CV axles. I have had a lot leak grease but never had one actually snap. I have had them fall apart in my hand when removing, but when in there they just keep on spinning and clicking. A buddy had them click around every turn he made, daily driving, for 4 years. Even if they start going bad you easily have a season to deal with it.

I think you should base your decision on your knowledge, experience, and gut instinct, not anyone else on any forum.

Some will duck and run at the first glitch, others will bear an unreasonable burden of problematic ownership and marginalize their woes. We are all different, have different situations, patience, and many other traits that guide our decisions.

Don't let anyone tell you to keep your vehicle or sell it. And no, not every vehicle has problems, I've had some I've driven 250,000+ miles with very little attention outside good maintenance and others problematic from the start. Most are in-between.

I've been open on this forum about my Maverick ownership experience. It was great for about 20,000 miles and soured afterwards, due to issues with both the vehicle and several Ford dealership service departments. Prior to that, I was very positive, with many significant contributions in the electronics/audio section and elsewhere.

Forum members need to hear the good and the bad regarding their vehicle. It helps others make informed decisions and also keeps FMC and their owners aware of both issues, desired features, and other relevant topics.

OP, it sounds like your ownership experience has been very positive thus far. If you likewise have good dealership support in your locale, that might factor into your consideration. Best wishes, no need to lose sleep over any of this.
