Of course the Maverick could be smaller. The F150 is just ridiculously huge. I honestly think the Maverick should be considered a midsize truck but Americans keep demanding bigger and bigger vehicles so there's nothing smaller.

Where's that graphic that shows the F150 over the years? The overall length has pretty much remained the same but the bed is barely half the size as a 1980s F150 while the height is more than a foot taller. It's like there's an arms race by the manufacturers to keep making taller and taller vehicles so drivers can continue to see over the vehicles in front of you. I pity the poor Miata drivers.
Been there, done that! Besides feeling like I was in a kiddie car next to one of these behemoths when I was in my miata, the headlights of oncoming trucks always got me dead in the eyeballs.

I’ve honestly never heard anyone say the maverick is still too big
My wife loves her Maverick but it’s definitely bigger than her basic 2001 Ranger. She’s adapting. The ridiculous prices people were getting for old style Ranger was crazy. Lots of people love the small truck. It was the big appeal.

A lot of my friends and family have the bigger trucks and like to talk trash about my Maverick. It does what I need even with three kids in the rear seat. Here is my Maverick next to my buddies F250 with lift. Just look at how much room that truck would take up in my driveway every day not to mention it would never fit in my garage.

If I didn’t have kids and could buy back my 1990 ranger I would in a heartbeat.

I drove home next to a little older model Mazda truck tonight. I felt like I was in a F-150 compared to him.

I was JUST thinking.... why the $&@# don't we have adaptive self leveling headlamps? So they stay level when you put 1500# of sand in the back or a large trailer attached?

I guess none of us are supposed to haul after dusk. 🤷🏻‍♂️

When a guy at work asked me "When are you gonna buy a real truck?" I said "When are you gonna get 50 miles per gallon and skip the gas station for over a month?"

Air bags inside rear springs with mercury switch to flex bed inverter plugged in mini compressor = 👍👍

@Dmthomp32 the photo of your buddy's F250 with lift looks photoshopped, it's so unreal looking!
I'm so thankful for the realistically sized Maverick!

I did that. Minus the mercury switch.
Does not completely level it.

My Datsun had single speaker radio, 2 or 3 speed heater with defroster, BIG PLUS was bagel shaped reinforced rubber overload bumpers that were sandwiched between axle housing and bed support that kept leaf springs from reverse bending when particle board was loaded about to height of cab. If front end got a little light you could put 100lb sack of cement on hood. Never had clutch problem probably due to lack of HP? Coolest thing was generator brushes were behind a 1"x1" door held on by Phillips screw and could be changed out in about 3 minutes.
Kinda miss the simpler days. Under the hood of my hybrid is a hot mess of sensors, cabling and unfamiliar devices.

On the EV's, they don't have to make 'em so big to meet CAFE requirements.
Yep, it's actually better for EVs to have a lower front end to reduce the frontal area and coefficient of drag. The only downside with lower front ends is they can look a little funky/droopy at times. Case in point, Ford's upcoming 3 row ev, which will either be called explorer or thunderbird apparently has very good areo, but extremely polarizing looks. It apparently looks like a more radical Tesla model x mixed with a mid 2000s Prius with very sharp recessed back end. Apparently Farley is praising it for how efficient it is, but many Ford people doubt it'll succeed due to it's shocking design.

It's a major challenge to balance areo and design much of the time.
