Yesterday I had Ford mobile do the tail light recall. While the tech had my Maverick connected to the Ford server he noticed that there was three updates one of which was the recall. The other two were for the PCM and Telematics. He did the PCM but said that the Telematics would take too long. My question is has anyone had the Telematics updated?

Yes, I had my two tailight recalls done on Monday and he also mentioned the Telematics, although he called it something else. In any case, the total time to do the recalls plus the above was three and a half hours. It is apparently an update to the main nexus of the whole communication system and is done directly with Ford. He mentioned it should cure the false deep sleep messaging which I had complained about. My terminology may be off, but it is indeed a slow process. Everything seems to work normally afterwards although I do find the audio system engages the AM radio when first turned on? Fuel mileage readout was incorrect but is slowly learning and correcting itself. He also mentioned the auto update system was turned off as well, apparently from new last June?

Had my three recalls done in 45 minutes via the Mobile service rig- Tech said the modem connection in the repair vehicle is pretty strong- Still surprised it only took that amount of time- They also had to re-program the TPMS sensors.

I pulled the fuse on the telematics circuit. I have not noticed any side effects.
I don't use FordPass or wi-fi and I use a Garmin for navigation.

There is a sync 3 update but that is lariat only I think and not sure if it's related to telematics.

Now I'm curious...

This should be standard procedure for anyone getting a maverick, pull fuse #11 to prevent electronic telematic spying as well as probably save some battery life

Has anyone been able to prove that this procedure does save battery life? I know it stops the "sleep" messages, but does it tell the computer to stop doing its post shut-down schematic bull doohickey, thing-a-ma-bob process?

Just had mine replaced yesterday because of the deep sleep issue. When I brought it in for the 3 recalls they told me the TCM was bad. No deep sleep this morning but it wasn’t a reoccurring issue. I’ll report back in a month if there are issues

From what has been posted in this thread https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...im-levels-and-options-found-by-forscan.11122/
There have been multiple part numbers and updated firmware for the TCU module.

A 22 model showed this in FORScan
Ford Maverick Telematics Update? 1718325423147-79

Notice FORSCan knows about a new SN firmware version

From a 23 model
TCU - Telematic Control Unit Module
Part number: NB5T-14G087-LB
Calibration level: NB5T-14G087-LB
Strategy : NB5T-14G139-AD

From another 23 model
TCU - Telematic Control Unit Module
Part number: NB5T-14G087-AC
Calibration level: NB5T-14G087-AC (latest known: NB5T-14G087-AF)
Strategy : NB5T-14G139-AC

Another 23 model
TCU - Telematic Control Unit Module
Part number: NB5T-14G087-LB
Calibration level: NB5T-14G087-LB (latest known: NB5T-14G087-LD)
Strategy : NB5T-14G139-AD

From a 24 model
TCU - Telematic Control Unit Module
Part number: NB5T-14G087-LD
Calibration level: NB5T-14G087-LD
Strategy : NB5T-14G139-AF

Since it is not a safety issue, dealers do not have to update the TCU for free unless it is causing a specific problem to the vehicle under warranty

If someone has had their TCU updated at the dealer, maybe they can post what FORScan shows.

Thanks for info. Glad you have no issues.
I was going to pull fuse 11 so that my 12volt battery would not be drain overnight.

I been testing the battery and its show 12v in the morning. Also got message the other day saying low battery.

Question; If I pull the fuse will i still be about to use fob for opening and locking the doors?
Will I be able to use the door combination buttons to unlock, lock doors?
Do you know of any other items I may lose control of by pulling fuse 11.

I have had none of the issues you are asking about. I have not noticed anything not working that was working before I pulled the fuse.

Thank you for your response.

That is pleasing to me there were no side consequences for pulling fuse. I though certain the door combination and fob would no longer work, but as you said you have had no issues after the pull of fuse 11.
I will continue to take volts of battery to establish a pattern.
If and when my battery goes to sleep, I will know its time to pull fuse.

I may do that before sleepy time, in order to monitor if there was any improvement
in the battery volts.

This is wonderful headline news. I don't really use fordpass anyway.

I pulled fuse#11 some time ago.
I've had absolutely no issues with features like remote start, etc. No dash warning lights or displays, either.

I also:
  • Put the truck on a battery tender and reset the BMS afterward, when not driving for a few days.
  • Double-lock via fob when leaving the vehicle parked for very long. This stops the relay clickety-clack sooner than if not double-locked or unlocked.
  • To get rid of the annoying horn honk on double-lock, disable "mislock chirp" in the steering wheel menu's vehicle settings.

Of course, this is my anecdotal evidence only, but, I have never had a single issue with the 12v battery with my XL Hybrid in 10 months/16k miles of ownership.
