It looks a little off, nothing I would be concerned about.
Body tolerances and alignment aren’t that great on Mavericks.

My hood seam isn’t perfect, and the front fender/bumper seam is a little out of whack.

The tailgate is probably the worst, although you can’t see most of the alignment discrepancies.

After installing a tailgate seal there were a lot of witness marks showing the variations along the bed and gate. I could see where the gate touched flush, and where it mashed the seal.
It wasn’t the seal installation, I lined it up very well with the bed sheet metal.

yes, could be flush. press tailgate forward with hand, it it moves to a flush position the latch is at fault. if not it's probably the post that needs adjusted.

I have the same gap only larger maybe. Do you know if tailgate gasket will cover and seal that gap? I have hard roll up cover from Ford.

Wouldn't know about the hard top cover. I guess you could try and make something work. If I have to haul dry goods in the back I will just throw in a tote. Although I drove through a downpour and everything was dry. So there's that

Take it back to the dealer. This looks like an easy fix. Something needs to be adjusted. Its better than having a door misaligned because those can be a pain. The hood can easily be adjusted as well.

I had a hood badly misaligned on my new Jeep wrangler. A friend told me to take it back but I was skeptical because it looked pretty bad. Well, took it back and after about 45min, they said its all done. I went outside and the hood was now perfect; all gaps and alignment was spot on. Even better, no damage or scratches whatsoever to the hood.

My tailgate is flush - yours appears to need minor adjustment. Without looking at mine for ref, I must assume this is an easy fix (others have always been adjustable and an easy fix).
