Internal direct short of battery . happened on f150 I had . couldn't jump start . fortunately it happened next to AutoZone . new battery all better .
This.... Almost for sure.. Whomever does it, battery needs replacing. 55 yrs of driving tons of beaters tells me this..

Yeah... I know, and I regret no swapping the battery myself, the no start when jumped threw me off, though it might be something worse, and I didn't expect the dealership to be so useless at diagnosing a battery.

Talk to the service manager and tell them to run the diagnostic tests on the battery. It's a series of tests they must follow in order for Ford to approve a replacement.

Mine was replaced because the auto start stop stopped working altogether. The battery would not fully charge.

In a twist of irony considering I've called them incompetent fools, at least they didn't completely waste time and did the airbag recall and the 30,000 km (20,000 mi) service.

I still don't know if only the battery is bad though, here's to hoping.
How did the airbag recall install go ? Our Maverick goes under the knife next week-

I HATE THE DAMN IDIOTS AT THE DEALERSHIP

My truck has been in their shop all saturday, all monday, all of tuesday, and all they've done is try to jump start it, fail, have it sit overnight with the battery unplugged and then it started once. Their convo with me:

Tech "It started up and has been running today, would you like to take it home?"
Me "Did you remove the battery and load test it, or at least tried a new battery?"
Tech "...no"

FFS FREAKING AUTOZONE WOULD HAVE DONE A BETTER DIAGNOSIS IN 15 MINUTES, WHY THE HELL IS A DEALERSHIP SHOP SO INCOMPETENT, HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO TRUST THEY WON'T TOTAL MY TRUCK DOING THE SIMPLEST THINGS

That is exactly why I just replaced my battery at my expense last night on my hybrid (in another thread here)

No idea, I haven't seen the patient just yet, hope she'll wake up from the coma with no brain damage :) I'll let you know as soon as I know, hopefully later today.

Make sure you folks inspect your vehicles. Cannot stress how important this is. Multiple plastic panels and the headliner were destroyed on mine, so they ordered new plastic and cleaned the headliner.

Another update: went to the dealership, they took out the battery and ran all the tests, voltage under load, etc., and it came perfect, the battery is not defective at all nor is it worn down significantly. The service advisor authorised the battery to be replaced under warranty (supposedly by putting a known bad battery on the automated tester to generate a code they need to get the replacement approved, don't know if that's true).

They pinky promised that if it happens again they will give me a rental and fine comb the electrical system.

Still no truck though, because of the pending warranty approval I have to wait until 12:00pm tomorrow...

Will definitively buy the extended bumoer to bumper warranty to 6 years and 120,000 kms (75,000 mi) for 1,200 USD. The pitfalls of the first model year experience, I guess.

My battery died in my EB yesterday morning. I had to run to a meeting so I drove my other car. When I got home, I jumped it, drove around and let it run for a while to charge up. I pulled it back into my garage, turn it off and it wouldn't restart. I called the dealer at 3 pm yesterday and they had their mobile service van out at my house 8:30 am this morning. The tech replaced the battery in my garage under warranty. He replaced the old style lead acid battery with a new AGM. My Maverick is 1 1/2 years old with 8800 miles.

Got my truck from the dealer, they replaced my battery (was a flooded type) with a brand new AGM battery and hopefully there will be no more electrical gremlins

Hello again, got my truck back, overall mine came back ok, the B pillar on the passenger side came back with a small gab where it meets the roof liner but pushing it a bit to seat a clip fixed it, overall there doesn't seem to be damage or stains on my interior.
