For those that have a 23 Maverick Lariat luxury package with Sync 3, does anyone know how often the navigation maps are updated. Mine is current but I notice that while driving on a road that was constructed about three years ago, the road was not on the map and me me driving in blank space. That could render the GPS navigation useless for trying to map directions on a location that came about in the last three years.

For the most part, I just use Google Maps, Apple Maps and Waze on Apple Car Play. But there is the occasional time that I don’t have my cell phone with me. Just curious about the Sync 3 Navigation maps that came as a new feature on the 23 Maverick Lariat.

I am running into this today. I have 600 miles on my lariat tremor and noticed over the weekend issues with the navigation system being out of date and giving me wrong exit numbers. Check my software and according to the vehicle software is up to date. However the navigation software is version 21.2 this is an indication the level is from 2021. I have a 2023 vehicle built in 2 2023! This is embarrassing on fords front. They are selling vehicles with out dated navigation? Off line assembly line? Did ford chat the told me to verify software level on website. Ya it doesn’t even recognize my maverick vin. They then refer me to the other update website, Maverick isn’t listed as an option. However the sync website shows in general vs 21.2 is latest level. This is BS. The chat guy then gave me a 800 number to call telling me the truck must have an update issue over WiFi. I went to print out the log of our conversation and it disappeared so I don’t have the phone number. It doesn’t matter because I’m convinced this is what ford is selling. And I’m not impressed. Otherwise I love the vehicle, but this is definitely disappointing. If anyone else can shine light on this I’d appreciate it

This is pretty normal. Maps done in 21, sourced in 22, built in 23. You are really surprised? It's not embarrassing on Ford it's expected.

This is the same experience I had with my wife's 2017 Escape. The 2022 update should be available sometime around September of this year and will be free to download. You may purchase a USB drive if you cannot download.

Just wondering which would you think is more " embarrassing" for Ford : a 2023 Maverick with navigation maps from 2021, or a Maverick ordered in 2021, still not built in 2022 so reordered as a 2023 in 2022, and still not built, with the possibility of not being built in 2023 so customer will be re ordering a 2024 in July.....:ROFLMAO: ( sad but true!)

My wife’s 2019 Volvo updates a few times a year at no cost. Does it all on its own. Her car has correct exit numbers and you can actually find our house on the map! And no, it’s not a new house or street. More than 10 years old. So yes I do think it’s embarrassing and I work for ford over 25 years…

The maps are always about 2 years old. Even the brand new Garmin. Not sure where the brain trust is getting this idea that built in navigation is getting instant updates. That's the benefit of Google Maps, but common knowledge for device/vehicle based navigation.

Used to use Magellan Navigators and maps were always behind the times, even when you’d just downloaded current updates. Have had several Fords with Navigation no further out of date than Magellan, but loved the larger screen and the screen displays. So when I got my 22 Maverick, I almost passed as it didn’t have navigation but after 5 months I’m getting used to Apple play and goggle maps. Only possible shortcoming is not being able to change route plans when out of cellphone coverage. Learned about that two summers ago when my son and I ventured out about 40miles into the desert and I wanted to come back to civilization by a different route. My son had set up a route to our destination on his android phone using google maps. No cell service no route change. Fortunately we were in my F150 supercrew 4x4. Went into Navigation and was able to map out new route back out of the boonies.

Son should have downloaded a chunk of the region as an offline Google map. It is not hard to do and will automatically update every 30 days for fresher map data.

I've got it set up for essentially the entire state of Washington and most of Northern Oregon. If I am out of cell service range it just defaults over to the map data that is no more than 30 days out of date. Seamless transition from live data to the stored data and back again when reception returns. Only way you even realize you lost signal is that you no longer have live traffic info, speed trap data, or road hazard warnings.

We were on a big road trip(6000 miles) and I’d not mentioned wanting to come back from the boonies a different route. Didn’t even think about coming back a different way until we’d ventured out and lost cell service. If we had we could put route in on his phone and route out on mine, but you know how it is when you get up and head out before your first pot of coffee.

My trusty Garmin will always be in the truck. Downloads thru my computer usb port. Simple, up-to-date and FREE.
And when I'm in someone else's car or a rental, I can always tear the screen out of the truck and take it along. Oh, wait, that's my Garmin I can do that with.
When the nav in the truck breaks, I just go a Walmart or Best Buy and get another one for a couple hundred bucks.
WAIT!! Again, that's my Garmin.

I was watching the map updates that appeared to be scheduled for release around August 17th(?)

Just checked via my account at ford.com and sure enough, a map update is now available. I've had my maverick for roughly a month, and I'm going to use this one time free update. If a new one becomes available in the future, I might ask for another one, but I'll address it when that happens.
