I test drove an Escape AWD hybrid before the Maverick, as much to get a feel for the engine and transmission as anything else. It's a nice car but I didn't love it and ordered my Maverick with the ecoboost.
I have never liked the CVT feel and while it wasn't slow the hybrid just felt kind of gutless, punching it to merge onto the highway had me wondering when it was going to get itself moving or should I get out and push but then I'd look at the speedo and realize "oh, we're almost up to speed."
Not bad, but not inspiring either.

No regrets. I had a 2022 Hybrid XLT. Nothing but problems and constantly at the dealers. I got rid of it and have a 2024 EB and am very happy so far. I knew early on my Hybrid was a vehicle I would get rid of before the warranty expired as I had real doubts about it’s longevity. And I still only made it 6 months because I could no longer trust it. Mileage is not my top priority and the EB has much more power and response and is more dependable in my experience. The EB transmission hunts gears from 1st to 4th while the Hybrid was smooth as glass, but that's the only thing I miss. Even so, I wouldn't consider keeping the EB without an extended warranty, or any new car for that matter.

I have the 2022 1st Edition Ecoboost Lariat I bought used with 20k about 12 weeks ago. I'm digging the gas mileage, the towing capabilities, the amount of integrated tech, and the look of this little beast. Heck, I put it into sport mode and floor it, and man, this thing has got serious quicks! My opinion, is the choice between the 2 power train options is more about how you're going to potentially use it. For me, the Ecoboost was the best choice

Well...Since the first time I read about the Mav I wanted a hybrid. I already owned a trouble free Fusion Energi, so I ordered a hybrid XLT during the short order window for the '23 from my dinky small town dealer. Still haven't received a VIN or schedule date after all this time. Rolled into a '24 hybrid Lariat, since I have the $3400 rollover offer... why wouldn't you?... and still waiting.

Long story longer... I picked up a 6k mile '22 hybrid XLT lux back in early Feb from a dealer 4 hours away and have been happy with it for the most part, but really wanting the Lariat bells and whistles. Recently I have been seeing post after post of issues with hybrids, and have noticed a couple minor glitches with mine that haven't warranted a trip to the dealer service department for a look see and not wanting any recalls applied when I am not having any serious issues currently, but getting a little worried about what the out of warranty world will be like. I started researching and decided to make the change before my roll over schedules (plus it may help it schedule sooner) to go with the Ecoboost instead. I added 4k to the order as well, so hopefully my Carbonized Gray Lariat with moon roof and BAP will eventually happen.

Anyone regret getting the Eco that had a hybrid or vice versa?
I too started with a Hybrid ordered to get the high MPG, and then changed to the EB on my 2024 XLT. To many questions about the system and the delay in production were the reasons for the switch.
I have just turned past 2500 miles, mostly around town (Tulsa, OK) (85% city/15% highway) and I am running about 27.5 - 28.0 MPG. I use the cruise whenever I can and I think this helps with the MPG, although this is just my opinion. On one tank of fuel (regular 87) I focused on MPG and got 30.6 MPG without a lot of effort.
Overall, very happy with my Hot Pepper Red XLT and glad I made the change to the EB.

Enjoy your travels

I bought an ECO Lariat. I personally don't like the complexity of a Hybrid platform, too much to go wrong.

If Ford however came out with a PHEV I'd be all over it because I'd practically rarely use gas with my short work commute. It would be enough savings to justify the added repair and longevity risks.

I'm really eyeing the RamCharger for this reason. It's a bigger truck in a different class, but it seems to hit all of my needs. Practically no fuel usage locally. But there is no way I'd jump on a 1st year FCA product like this one and there is the cost...

I was ECO-bound from the start.
Grew up with muscle cars.
What the present day concern was for me...
Is the possible cost of the Hy-brid's battery replacement. I keep mine for 12-14 years.. So that would factor in on keeping it.

That's the reason I sold my Tesla M3P. Best car I have ever owned, but when you start to see battery degradation of 15% at year 3 it really makes you want to offload the coming problem onto someone else.

And I treated that battery pack like a baby. Only supercharged about 3 times total and daily charged only to 70% (Tesla recommends no more than 80%).

Electric vehicles are the future, no doubt, but the battery technology isn't nearly there yet.

The only vehicle I've ever regretted getting was my Escape Hybrid for all the reasons you see commonly on these forums. My EB has been trouble free so far, but I think overall it's a roll of the dice right now with any FORD vehicle as they seem to still not have post COVID production figured out not to mention the software issues currently going around. I don't trust recall work on these Mavericks. EB or Hybrid. I will say though, if someone makes an AWD Hybrid version like a Maverick, I'm all in. Until then, keeping what I have as it's under warranty. At this rate any vehicle I get and keep beyond the factory warranty is getting an extended warranty. For me currently it's all about AWD and the price range. Nothing is reliable anymore. So, roll your dice and enjoy your new truck.
Agree with everything said above. Trouble-free 23 hybrid thus far. Loving the gas savings, but AWD version would have me running, not walking to dealer for trade/swap.

I ordered my 2023 Maverick Lariat EB and am not sorry one bit. I looked into write ups and recalls of the hybrid and after having 2 Ford Escape Eco Boosts am glad I stayed the course with my Maverick. Gas mileage is not as good obviously as the hybrid but averaging 25-30 mpg is not a bad trade off. Only 1 recall so far that was for turn signal and was completed in my driveway by Ford Mobile Service. Not sorry at all I stayed with the Eco Boost.

Hybrid Lariat with no regrets thus far after just about a year, as I purchased her on 04/30/23. I'm more lower speeds, with occasional weekend getaways or road trips, which may increase once my eBike arrives, and we settle on how to transport both of them. - Wife's Crosstrek doesn't have a hitch/receiver, and I'm positive my Maverick will handle 200 lbs of bike & carrier better than the Crosstrek if it did.

The Hybrid components carry an 8 year warranty, and with my brother working at the dealership, have 10 year/100k mile bumper to bumper to with it dirty cheap. - Realistically, I'm good for 10 years, while enjoying 50+ mpg in warm weather, and low-mid 40s during winter.

FWIW the HVB in the Maverick runs around $2000, and thankfully not the absurd money some of the PHEV & EV models go for, should it fail outside of warranty. - I'm sure there's some fluids and connectors to go along with the swap, but the battery cost isn't totally insane. (Remanufactured batteries will likely also be available in a couple of years at a lower cost as well).

BTW the latest battery recall for failure to start or restart in traffic is for the ECO model Maverick, Bronco Sport, and Escapes. Notices start going out to notify owners sometime in May.

UPDATE: This recall 24S24 will affect BOTH ECO & HEV models, to reprogram the BCM to better detect a failing battery during the drive cycle.

Ecoboost 4k all the way. Loaded it up. Drive the thing like a law abiding citizen and you will get great gas mileage. Drive it like you stole it and the thing will make you smile ear to ear. It will tow just fine. Most of all you'll have a reliable maverick

You definitely made the smart choice as the hybrids have way way more problems than the eco-boost.

Like someone else mentioned, I was Eco-bound from the start. I've had two of them so far. The first order was placed at the very beginning back in September 2021. Right on time for the first Mavericks to go into production. I was tempted to get a Cactus Grey XLT Hybrid with the luxury package but was skeptical on hybrid technology and the lack of AWD. So for a few thousand more, I instead ordered an Area 51 Lariat Ecoboost and adored that thing. It wasn't without its recalls (most of which were cosmetic, with the exception of airbags) but it was the best vehicle I've ever had, at least I thought.

Then I decided to order another one, this time in Hot Pepper Red (the color I always wanted) and upgrading to the FX4 package since a move to a colder and snowier climate is in the works so I wanted something more capable. And the fact that the FX4s have the upgraded suspension which translates into better ride quality than the regular one. As a result, this is the best vehicle I've ever had. It blows my first one out of the water! And seeing more and more issues with the Hybrids as of late, it veered me even further way from them so Ecoboost is the way to go. It's not nearly as efficient, but it can get good fuel economy when it wants to. On the highway, I can typically average 27-32 mpg whereas around town it hovers around 24-25. But sometimes I've seen it as low as 22 mpg. It doesn't happen very often but at least there's a respectable amount of range between fill-ups.

I love my EB Lariat AWD with 4K but only have 3.5k on it. I will decide in the next 10 months if I want to buy the extended warranty. I am treating it right with 5k full synthetic oil changes and only tier 1 gas and most of the time 89 octane. It runs much smoother on the higher octane. Averaging 28mpg and got 32mpg on an extended trip. Can't beat it. Glad I spent the extra for the Lariat. Like my Daddy says "money ain't worth nothin"

Try putting 89 octane in it for a few tanks. It made a noticeable difference in my truck.
