Finally making some progress on the audio upgrade. Ditched the 8" JBL subs I was using behind the seats and have my Focal 10" under the rear seat.. Just went with a generic box because I was worried about the sub hitting the seat.. It's going to be close so I'll probably end up making a fiberglass box that sits a little lower for peace of mind.. Still rocking the front speakers but they sound way better with a DSP/Amp on them. Trying to figure out a 3 way set up. Hopefully a mid in the dash and maybe flush the tweeters into the pillars. Space in the dash location seems to be an issue though

yeah, you definitely do not want the surround to rub on the seat under cover. if it is you should be able to see a ring on that gauze-like material. (I am not an upholsterer, lol, IDK the correct terminology for it.)

as far as using 3 pc components I have schemed about that, but I'll probably never do it. I suggest that the first thing you need to do is figure out what amp. I personally would use an amp with dsp and not use a passive crossover. (in fact, you can buy Morel Maximo Ultra 3 way without a crossover.)

after that, personally I would make a custom pod for the stock dash tweeter location if you're able, and hire it done if not (like me :D ). I did a little digging and found that the 2.5" mid has a mounting depth of 2.2" which I think is doable. I would highly recommend keeping the mid and tweeter in plane so that as music crosses over between them you have a better soundstage, so I would not mount the tweeter in the a pilllar or sail panel. you could possibly put both in the upper door panel but I think dash is superior as long as you deal with time alignment and other aspects of the reflected sound. which, a dsp will definitely do that.

Probably will have to make some type of grill or some other contraption to make sure the bottom of the seat doesn’t touch the sub. There is no grill from the manufacturer for my sub So I’ll have to adapt.

I already have a audison amp/dsp combo so I’m good there, it’s just powering the factory speakers until I decide what I want to do. Was thinking of 3d printing some new grills that could be a little taller so I can get the mid in the dash. Not sure yet. Pillar or sail panel is last choice but I still think the 3 way active set up would sound better than just the 2 way. Gotta find time to experiment

nice! you're set.

there are more reasons to use the dash tweeter pocket for your custom pod with both 2.5" mid and 1" tweeter besides optimal soundstage.

the A pillar has an airbag in it. I think it's very possible to install the tweeter low enough to be fairly certain of non-interference with airbag wiring or deployment, but it's definitely going to be a hassle.

the sail panel cover, if you haven't removed yours yet, is an absolute joke. it has a ridiculous single connector that is easily deformed and it is not held in place very securely. mine have never fit well after the first time I removed them to install my door speakers, and it didn't get better the second time when I put sound deadener in my door panels. :ROFLMAO:

I saw the only mount for the sail pa el was right in the middle. Fitment is shit for sure. I thought I might be able to epoxy some magnets onto the back after making some mounts. Or 3d print a pod that attaches to the sail panel so I don’t have to cut out the factory mount. Gonna be some trial and error
