Here's the problem as many already know... the rolloff of all the speakers is bad and the sub just doesn't see the full low range it needs. We can get a lot of mid-bass but not low bass. Nothing we can do on the head unit "eq" nor the gain on the sub can fix bad signal from the source. UNLESS we add a line-output converter that corrects for rolloff!
Did you already override the head unit EQ in Forscan to try and get a “flat” signal out of it?

I don’t know if that will help get you enough signal voltage for your amp, but I would recommend that tweak before depending on DSP to put back what the head unit is intentionally taking away.

I haven't! I was worried that the dash tweeters or tiny rears would distort if they saw full range. It is worth a shot though, before trying another LOC

Anyone else had success on a flat eq and add a sub on a non B&O?

The dash and rear speakers all have capacitors hard-wired at the speakers themselves, so there is some protection, but I'm sure you can smoke them if you are really trying.

To clarify, a DSP is a great idea in general - and should help protect the smaller drivers; it's just that the stock signal is a poor starting point. I am planning to set the factory EQ to flat before I use the DSP in my Kicker Key.

You're right, it's worth a shot! Now I just have to wait until the next time my daughter is in town.
