---Am very happy with my Mave XLT hybrid ---after 1 month and 700+ miles this is a great vehicle.........but the included radio leaves something to be desired......am/fm fades in and out................................How to increase the strength/ sensitivity without puncturing any of the metal? Is there another stronger antenna that can replace the current standard one?

I am also interested in the radio. I love tuning in the FM stations. The phone play and satellite stuff doesnt interest me much. I love the magic of it. I see everyone is going with lil stubbies and fins for their antenna, is there anyway to swap it for a standard metal antenna? I like hearing the boing to know if I'm clearing the trees.

I don't have my Maverick yet, but most of my newer vehicles have moved away from the single-pin DIN connectors. Of course, there are adapters.

I bought the 2” stubby and lost more than half the reception I had with the stock. I like the stubby though, that’s why I’m trying the booster. We’ll see

I have not had any problem with reception at all. I do wish that I could have had SiriusXM included in my XLT. Wondering if there is any adapter to receive satellite radio in my XLT. Thanks

You can buy an external Sirius/XM receiver. You use Bluetooth or an FM modulator hardwired to the radio thru the antenna jack. There is a lot of info under the radio, electronics forum. If you have unlimited data on your cell phone you can use Apple or Android car play and the Sirius/XM app on your phone to stream it. There are pros and cons to each of the 3 methods.

I believe the poor reception has to do with the entire audio system, not just the antenna. Maybe Ford has a weak antenna amplifier built into the infotainment system. Mine sucks too. I am currently driving an EcoSport Titanium loaner car with the Ford Sync 3 system (as opposed to the sync 2 in the Maverick) and the reception sucks on this too. But, my 2018 Corolla just has a generic radio/backup camera screen without apple car play and the radio reception is great even 100 miles away.

Even if you put a 3 foot long antenna on the Maverick, I don't think it would improve the signal, it has something to do with the amplification.

That's a shame. No excuse for poor radio reception as it is a basic, mature technology that doesn't involve pricey components for performance.
I had a Proton high-end headunit back in the late '80s that had Schotz tuner and dual-diversity antennas. That system actually played FM better than most systems today with HD Radio tuners.

I know this thread is almost a year old, but curious if this helped your radio reception or if you ever found anything that did.
Thanks
