I've found that sport mode is great for sudden acceleration like driving like you stole it in and out of cars, and keeping the revs high on deceleration is great because it keeps the throttle response quick and cuts down on lag from the turbo when you go to hit the gas again.

Sport mode broke your engine?
🤣
Lol, I'm not even gonna lie and say that was auto correct. I better go back and change that before I cause people to flip out. 🤣

There is gonna be a whole other spin off thread now. "I heard sport mode broke someone's Ecoboost!"

Doh, just doing my part for internet disinformation.

The original comment about too much power was the EB 250 hp. If those people think 250 is too much, they haven't experienced 850 RWHP, or a Mustang that runs the 1/4 in the mid 10's over 130mph.
Exactly I have a 2018 Camaro ZL1 and that’s pretty quick. I daily the Maverick it’s a fun little truck and has a nice amount of pep.

Man, came into this thread thinking I'd find a lot of people complaining about how timid it is. I am apparently in the wrong thread. Honestly, I think it's kind of weak and wish it could be more extreme. I realize this is partially because of the previous vehicles I was driving; a 2006 Mustang GT (manual) and a 2007 Porsche Cayman (automatic but with manual mode and a reprogrammed shifting add-on). I honestly wish we could have gotten a manual transmission or a super sport mode.

Sport mode will hold the revs high when braking because engine braking and also If you want to get back on it(gas) its in the sweet spot of the torque band. Plus since your an ecoboost it will keep the turbo spooled for a more linear response. As a sports car driver(always manual with sports cars) you want to keep the revs high as that where the power band is.
To simplify, Working as intended.

So I have had my 2.0L ecoboost AWD Maverick for almost 6 months now and in that time I've kept it in normal mode. Just for kicks recently I put it into Sport mode. Ugghh. To me it is very much unusable to the point I am wondering if something is wrong with either the programming or the transmission. I know that modes are electronic and not mechanical and the computer is just changing shift points and the timing of such. Sport mode on the Maverick as on other manufacturers that use it, holds the revs longer, and higher it seems. On my Maverick, the problem is is that it seems to hold high revs TOO long or when it shouldn't. Yesterday in Sport mode it was doing like 2500 RPMs at 40 mph. Seems a bit high to me since our Mavericks are high geared and are doing under 1800 RPM's at 60 mph in Normal mode. When I come up to a stoplight/stop sign in Sport mode, it holds the RPM's way too high when to me it should be lowering them since I am coming up to a stop. It's like someone in a manual that downshifts into 1st gear when coming up to a stop before they should and the engine is revving in too high an RPM. Just doesn't seem like it is behaving right or is this how Sport mode is supposed to behave in people that have used it regularly in thier Mavericks? If so, it is terrible IMO.
Seems to do a great job when you just "floor it" anyhow.

For what the truck is it's quick when I agree I have a BMW M5, which has 850 RWHP, and my 987 has a renegade hybrid LS-3 conversion. but I love driving my Maverick.

Sport mode on the 2.0 EB Maverick is so much fun. The 2.0 is already peppy as can be to me in Normal Mode, Sport Mode adds a moderate touch of roids to the equation. 😎👍

I miss sport mode - and will probably have it again with ForScan soon. The FX4 package gives some off-road modes, but does away with sport mode.

The nice thing about it is that it keeps you up near the torque peak for instant response without waiting for the downshift, useful for situations where you are wanting to get instant response. Also throws in a substantial amount of engine braking on hilly terrain, which is pretty common here.
