San Diego to Boise with a 5X8 Uhaul trailer in my 2024 with FX4, AWD, 4K Tow Package with 1, 800 miles on the odometer. Just had first oil change to full synthetic and tires rotated.
Two people in the truck with probably 500 lbs inside. Trailer had approximately 1K lbs, plus the weight of the trailer. Total around 2,200 lbs.
*** 940 miles & 17.9 average mpg. Kept speeds betwen 68 and 73 mph. We were above 4K feet the majority of the trip, running AC, and it was windy much of the time.
No issues whatsoever with the trailer or the engine. Passed several slow trucks and cars with ease.
I alternated between Tow/Haul mode and Normal mode. No apparent difference in MPG but the engine was revving higher in town in Tow/Haul mode.
Sure glad I bought the truck since I would have had to spend a lot more for a Uhaul truck than towing a trailer. 10/10 for my first towing experience.
