What type of fuel are you using? Just about all new engine designs advance the ignition to the point of light knocking and then back off slightly. If your fuel is substandard, that would cause excess knock.
Top tier gas from Costco, Shell, etc. Back in the day we were all too familiar with predetonation and it's not that.

To my knowledge, it’s normal hybrid noises for this vehicle. A couple of reviewers made the same observation that at slow speeds with the radio off there are various rattles and clicks that can be heard. Mine (AWD) does it too. . It’s not loud at all. I think it’s the nature of the beast. Sounds like it may be solenoids energizing and de energizing.

That's a good idea, to at least get it on record in case something does come of it.
To be honest, I think it’s the nature of the beast. Besides if it’s something bad, the hybrid components have a 8 year100,000 mile warranty. If it’s a real problem , it will get worse. Techs get paid flat rate. No need to have him spend 1/2 hour or more chasing a non-existent problem that’s normal operation that he won’t get paid for.

Yeah, good point. May be more common on the new 2025 CVT and if more drove without the stereo on there would be more reports of it. As already mentioned, other than my mind questioning this very subtle sound/feeling, the drive system is excellent. Very happy with the vehicle overall and would buy it again today if given the chance for a 'do-over'. Just going to continue driving and enjoying it.

I can't tell much from the spound on that recording, but I can tell you that this is my 3rd hybrid (Honda, Toyota, and now Ford) and I've NEVER had a hybrid that made as many peculiar whirring, buzzing, and weird sounds. What does the Maverick do that Toyotas and Hondas don't do? They all have regenerative braking, seamlessly switch from EV to ICE, but the Maverick providws under-hoof entertainment.

Why am I sure the dealer will say "that's normal for a hybrid." Bullshit! Maybe that's normal for a Ford. On the other hand, I like everything else about my '25 XLT FWD...except maybe the skimpy front seats. If I were designing it for myself, I'd have only jump seats in the back and maybe another foot or two of bed length.

There were posts about people checking their tranny fluid level when they did their initial break-in oil change - and it was low.
Saw enough of them, I checked mine. It was fine.

So always something possible, which it would be better to discover earlier than later.

Many times they'll drive another one on the lot to compare - see if you can be along for the ride.
Besides having exact conditions to duplicate it.

Has anyone gotten their engine damper replaced? I've seen many complaints about it here but haven seen anyone saying theirs got replaced. Just curious.

Mine is FWD only (I'll edit my signature) and it does seem to occur when the gas engine engages under light load, going from electric motor only to both running.
I listened to your recording 2x.
Could not hear anything recognizable.

Engine damper was VERY obvious in mine and occurred when engine shut off. Almost like "dieseling" effect.

Did not hear that in yours.
Mine got more prevalent with time, not better, and was replaced under warranty.

Good to hear from someone who had an actual damper issue. I'm just a 'driveway mechanic' but mine seems like the sound a solenoid would make engaging and disengaging so I'm not too concerned as much as curious to what's making the subtle sound. If nothing changes between now and then I'll ask about it next time I'm at the dealer for the upcoming seatbelt light recall or an oil change.

It’s normal for This vehicle. I’m not sure why. it may be annoying for some people. But it’s doesn’t bother me. And if I have my radio on, I don’t hear it.

I believe it's actually solenoids. To be honest, the dealership would probably be speculating as well. When a vehicle comes in with a complaint that doesn't seem to affect functionality, one of the steps in diagnosis is "compared with like vehicle" to determine if it's simply the nature of the beast. If enough people complain, they will sometimes issue a message that may tell us the cause and that it's normal, does not affect durability. And no repair should be attempted.

i hear very slight mechanical interference when the engine kicks on. Not concerning to me. 5,200 miles in.

This is the noise I get during any start - difference between Park/Drive and Neutral highlighted.
It's the difference when the generator motor is brought online for regen compared to not.
Not solenoid like on/off, just difference in hum. Can't even hear engine that much.
