I see all these posts about people sticking big AT tires on their Mavericks (and they do look cool!), but the Maverick will be primarily a commuter vehicle for me. I will likely never go offroad, unless its at a pumpkin festival on a grass lawn or something. I also put a lot of miles on my commuter (15-20k a year) so a long lasting tire saves me a lot of money too.

What would you guys recommend for a tire that prioritizes comfort/longevity and of course traction?

Right now I have my eyes on the Michelin Defenders, but they are pretty pricey, so I figured I would see if there were any other options I should look at. I have General RT43s on my wifes rav4, they seem to last a while and are comfortable, but they send a decent bit or tire/road noise into the cabin.

You might look at Firestone Destination LE3. They are a highway tire and as such, will have better treadwear than traditional all-season tires.

The Kumho Crugen HT51 is comparable in tread pattern to the Michelin Defenders, albeit at a lower price.

The jury is still out on my existing tires as I only have 6,400 miles on the Lexus. It is the Ultra Luxury model and the car as a whole is quieter. They have the windshield similar to the Maverick that is supposed to reduce noise. It has other stuff as well but the tires are Michelin Energy Saver A/S 235/45/R18's. The Description is lengthy so here is the Tire Rack link: https: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Michelin&tireModel=Energy+Saver+A/S&partnum=345VR8ESAS&vehicleSearch=true&fromCompare1=yes&autoMake=Lexus&autoYear=2021&autoModel=ES 300h&autoModClar=

First paragraph starts out:
The Energy Saver A/S is Michelin North America's most fuel-efficient All-Season Passenger car tire developed for the drivers of hybrid and fuel-efficient passenger cars that want to exploit their vehicle's fuel economy without abandoning dry, wet and wintertime traction. Warranty is 6 years/65,000 miles.

Bottom line, I have ALWAYS had Michelin's on my vehicles, except trucks, and these have been great so far. I will buy them again and see if they have them available for the Maverick as well.

Thanks for the heads up. I had never heard of Kumho, but those HT51 look very promising. I like that they are 3 peak rated too, so I don't have to keep an extra set of winter tires. I typically avoid driving in the snow, but its nice to have the ability if needed.

What tires are on your maverick already? Based on my experience with the continentals that came on my ‘17 focus, I expect a very quiet, comfortable ride with the continental tires that come on maverick xl/xlt/ non fx4. I also expect to get 40,000 miles minimum out of them.

just the stock XLT continentals that will come with the hybrid (when it comes). I will be curious to see how they perform. My problem is I will probably burn through them in 1.5-2 years.

Looked on discount tires web site and found these. Looks good, will consider when I need tires. Did not see if was low rolling resistance or not. It has 11/32" tread. It comes with free air checks, rotation (I due the free rotation every 4k miles as it helps with noise reduction as well as milage plus doing this helps, I feel, getting milage warranty adjustment on replacement). I do buy discounts certificates also. Sometimes sale price of some kind. Now these are $149. See if what you think. Maybe a 1/2" or so more diameter might be better mpg for mainly highway. I don't know.

The stock continental are garbage. My wife’s Jeep renegade had them stock and didn’t make 32,000. Extremely poor IMO. I’m religious in rotations and tire pressure. I had bf Goodrich long trails that lasted me 70k with mostly highway driving.

I have had Kumho, Goodyear, Firestone and Continental brand tires on my vehicles over the years. So far, the Goodyear Assurance and the Continental ExtremeContact and their TerrainContact A/T tires have been great. I wish I could get their A/T's for the Mav but they don't make them in the correct size for the XL.

this guy put the 245/65-17 on their Maverick and it looks like it fit. The A/T comes in that size.

I'm probably going to stay away from AT tires on my Hybrid though... Fuel economy is king with the amount of driving I do.

General Altimax RT43 have lasted about 55k on my Forester (and I'm not easy on it). Transmit bumps through the cabin more than the Yoko Geolanders AT they replaced but road noise is low. Wet weather and light snow traction is great. Actually about to replace them with Altimax 365 AW but treadwear is a little less on those.

Yoko Avid Ascends have always treated me well but not sure how they'd hold up on the Mav. GT and LX are the ones I've had. Don't wear as long as the Generals. Might not grip quite as well in wet weather but they are quieter and a smoother ride.

The Altimax RT43s are good, yeah. Ran a few sets on our AWD Tauruses on account of the light snow test reviews. Otherwise for general use I lean towards Hankook. Michelins seem pretty good from a few we've got new, but tend to be a bit pricey for me to have used them in our fleet.

Goodyears have been pretty universally garbage in my experience. Poor tread wear life and prone to shifting belts or in-tread cracking/blowouts in the low- to mid-range models.

Oh, I can make something fit. But, I wanted to stay stock size.
245s fit perfectly geting 26.9 in city got 32.6 on i75 In Florida at 70 with cruise control have toyo open country AT3's in 245/65 r17. They do not rub what so ever they have no extra noise and are riding smoother than the perrelli's that came in my fx4

Is your speedometer off as a result?
