I want to share a simple, easy-to-make folding bed divider for the Ford Maverick. Here's what makes it different from a standard single-board divider:
  1. It folds in half, so it’s easy to store flat in the bed when not in use.
  2. The latch makes it quicker to install and remove compared to sliding a full board out of the slots.
  3. I added a small folding arm to keep my gas can from sliding around during transport.

I used 2x6 treated lumber, galvanized non-removable pin hinges, and a galvanized latch. I beveled the boards behind the hinges so they sit flat when folded, and I also beveled the bottom ends of the divider to match the angle of the slots in the bed. I kept the boards raised slightly off the truck bed to help prevent water damage.

Here is the divider installed with a gas can.

I was going to use a 2x10, but PT was WAY too heavy for my wife or anyone else to deal with, backpedaled to to KD, still too heavy, ended up with 1x KD pine doubled at the ends to fit the slots, notched the outside bottom to fit into the drop-in bottom pan & rounded off the top for removal clearance. Might add some hooks for grocery bags or a cargo net.

I like the design, but why treated?
With a bed cover, treated seems like overkill.
Construction grade lumber will last for years if allowed to dry out after getting wet. With a coat of paint, decades.

Exactly! PT is much heavier & can't be painted. The only use would be to prevent rot/bugs if you're hauling firewood or mulch a lot.

I went with treated because the cover still leaks enough that I didn't want to worry about it. It was also only $3 more.

Nice job. I like the center hinge making it easier to install/take out. I'll have to make one of these. Thanks for posting.
