From what I can tell the frequency on my 2024 XL is every 10,000 miles. The service department where I purchased it says they recommend a service at 1,000 miles and then every 6Mo or 5,000 miles? This is not my main transportation. So it is not driven a lot. Mainly on the short local trips.

Personally for a turbocharged gas engine I'd want to stay around 5,000 miles. Turbocharger heat, extra combustion pressure, and direct injection are all rough on oil so worth the extra cheap insurance of keeping it fresh.

Thank you. I'm going to go with the 5,000 miles recommendation.

Weird,my dealer said nothing about a 1000 mile service.only a 5000 mile service on my 23 ecoboost.

There is no need for 5,000 mile services, even with a turbo engine. That's what full synthetic oi is for.

That's the key right there....define "short"? That's one of the more extreme conditions for a DI gas engine, as far as oil degradation.

Less than 10 miles between cycles, then I think your dealer recommendation is pretty accurate. If you plan on keeping the truck for 5+ years, better to error on the safe side.

My Mercedes Sprinter recommends 1ST oil change at 15,000 miles. I did it personally at 14K. Oil looked good, filter was black (diesel). The newer engines have superior manufacturing tolerances and the synthetic oil are very good.

Everybody has be be comfortable with their own approach, however I believe that a lot of people are over reacting because of lack of knowledge. Every 5,000 miles is, IMO, a very logical position to take. Use a very good filter, like Wix. Stay away from the cheapest ones. You get what you pay for.
