Searched the forums and didn't find anything. Getting to know our new XLT Hybrid. The maintenance schedule says the vehicle doesn't require coolant service until 10 years or 200,000 miles, and I'm going ?????!!!!!. What type of exotic cooling formula is this truck using that can go 10 years without a flush and fill? Also, the manual lists two coolant volumes, one for the low temperature cooling system and another for the high temperature system. So now I'm also trying to figure out why the truck would have two different cooling systems. Can someone point me to any information on this subject? Thanks!

One system if for the engine and the other for the battery pack. Not much heat stress from either is why the extended period. No magic juice.

Change at 100k five years. Just did fusion energy very much the same system. Change both like mentioned above. I googled info for the battery side which involved pulling a hose below to drain. Same coolant in both.

Well your best bet on HOW to do it right is a Factory Service manual. You can get in quite an argument on what Ford says. Most of the time that is under NORMAL use. Most people don't drive under normal use. I sure wont wait that long. I do my regular car at 3 years along with the brake fluid too. I MIGHT stretch the coolant on the Mav when I get mine to 4 years but brake fluid at 3 years. Yes many don't flush the brake fluid. I have NEVER had a brake caliper or wheel cylinder (yes old drum brakes) or master cylinder fail with that regime BUT changed many on other peoples cars.

Same as every vehicle - at least every 50k will keep your vehicle happy. I never go beyond 60k without an overhaul on fluids. As @TheSEARCH mentioned, a yearly regiment is a good idea too if you do not get that kind of mileage over a certain period. Condensation is the killer. Nobody can argue that changing fluids more often is a bad thing, it's just not financially feasible. Personally, I think anything beyond 60k is negligent but you do you.
