I'm having a hard time letting go..... HELP!!!
So I have a daily driver 2005 Camry LE with 335K on the clock, yes 335K - still decent in all regards and I think it could make it to 400K, just not sure I can convince someone to give me a few thousand for it with the miles - maybe only in this sellers market.
Then there is the other problem, a 1987 Ranger with 150k miles but in very good shape AND I'm having a very hard time letting go of the 6' bed to haul a load of mulch or 10' boards.

Have 3 other cars also that I can drive but not long term for my 50 mile commute.
I want to buy a very low option XL. Thoughts?
Might as well keep it, you won't get hardly anything for it.

I'm lucky, in that CarMax's offer my Escape has only dropped a couple hundred in the last couple weeks. Of course, that doesn't matter because my only other vehicle is a Vette and NO WAY I'm gonna try using that for Costco runs the next several months. I've come to peace with the fact that I'll have to sit out this round of inflated used car trade in values.
If the market is still up, think about selling the E and using an uber or lyft for the Costco runs. It would only be for a once-a-week duty cycle... for a few months. What would the $$ work out to be? I don't have either so have no clue as to rates. If there are $K in the E, get it while it's hot. At least consider it... tom

Can't see selling the Ranger for the reasons stated and the convenience of having a long load carrier. I have an 85 with the same usage.
I would sell the Camry if you can get something for it. The market likely will not get tighter(not impossible, but likelihood is low), and if someone needs wheels, it may fit their needs.

I sold my 2017 VW Alltrack at the end of June to Carvana for 20k, they sold it for almost 24k. My wife just got a Bronco sport and I have a motorcycle. Im saving on car payments and insurance to put a down payment of the Mav. (ordered 7/20) Both my wife and I sold our cars during the Peak. She sold her base 2017 Acura RDX for what she payed for it at Carmax (20k) and got the Bronco Sport around June. The dealer is trying to sell it for 25K.

I sold my 2009 Dodge 1500 Crew Cab Bighorn. It had 108000 miles on it for 15700. It took only 10 days.

KBB uses something like a 3 month rolling average and used auction prices (and therefore present trade-in value) are reportedly starting to cool down. That said it's also worth checking Carvana, Vroom, Auto Lenders Go, and Shift.

I think you should have my handle (TooManyVehicles). I am not worthy. :)

I have two cars plus one truck (plus the upcoming Maverick) plus an class A RV plus a tractor. One driver until the last year or so (son is now driving who I have trouble keeping out of my 2015 F150.) He will be away in school come fall and then the fleet will be all mine (no, he is not taking a vehicle with him. Just no to that.) Then again, I have no commute (but likely will have a 15 minute or so one starting in September).

Lots of comments on this great topic. Here's mine.

I currently have three cars, including an older Silverado truck, a Chrysler 300, and my wife's GMC SUV. Of the three, I don't need the Chrysler and it has the highest miles. I bought it used in April 2019 for $16,900. Just got an offer from Carvana after driving it 28 months and 12,000 miles, for 17,500. I am definitely selling it. I'll keep the GMC and the Silverado until the Maverick comes in, then probably trade the Silverado.

Take advantage of this used car market while it's crazy. It's probably a once in a lifetime thing.

I got my Compass appraised at 18K today. 2017, FirstGen Compass, High Altitude trim, 4x4, premium sound, sunroof, upgraded EVIC, Nav, etc. 28250 miles on it. I paid $16K for it used a year ago, and only owe about $10K today (I overpay like a mofo). It goes this weekend. That's my Saturday errand.

Just sold my 2006 F150 Super Crew 5.4 Triton yesterday. Glad to get that behemoth out of my driveway lol.

Put the money in the bank and will continue to save up for a large down payment before the Maverick arrives.

Hope to have at least 1/2 the cost of the Maverick saved so I’ll have a really low monthly payment.
