I took my wife to a dealership today to check out colors (the winner: Velocity Blue; I would have thought she'd have preferred Eruption Green).
Early on in this search, I test drove a Maverick, and found the legroom insufficient (as in, my left thigh not fully supported by the seat; that hurts on a long drive!).
But I got behind the wheel so she could how it drove (and because I was curious about the ecoboost).
The salesman claimed I could put the seat back father, so I skeptically tried, and, sure enough, I got a few inches more in the Lariat than in the XLT! It's enough for me.
Interestingly, I also had sufficient room to sit upright in my ever-present western hat, even with the moonroof.
Turns out that the salesman was trying to, well, lie his way into my taking it rather than ordering a hybrid.
He stated that they had a "non-negotiable" $5k premium over MSRP on hybrids, and that they got few. And then that that was less than the other dealers in town, who wanted $8-10k extra.
Getting home, I checked the other three dealers in town. One has two lariats (one with options I don't want) in our color listed for sale on its website at MSRP, another a lariat in that color at apparently nothing marked up other than the $2k they slap on everything for their "complimentary service pack", and the third an XLT in that color at MSRP.
Oh, and he also claimed that it takes a year to get an ordered Maverick.
