I took my wife to a dealership today to check out colors (the winner: Velocity Blue; I would have thought she'd have preferred Eruption Green).

Early on in this search, I test drove a Maverick, and found the legroom insufficient (as in, my left thigh not fully supported by the seat; that hurts on a long drive!).

But I got behind the wheel so she could how it drove (and because I was curious about the ecoboost).

The salesman claimed I could put the seat back father, so I skeptically tried, and, sure enough, I got a few inches more in the Lariat than in the XLT! It's enough for me.

Interestingly, I also had sufficient room to sit upright in my ever-present western hat, even with the moonroof.

Turns out that the salesman was trying to, well, lie his way into my taking it rather than ordering a hybrid.

He stated that they had a "non-negotiable" $5k premium over MSRP on hybrids, and that they got few. And then that that was less than the other dealers in town, who wanted $8-10k extra.

Getting home, I checked the other three dealers in town. One has two lariats (one with options I don't want) in our color listed for sale on its website at MSRP, another a lariat in that color at apparently nothing marked up other than the $2k they slap on everything for their "complimentary service pack", and the third an XLT in that color at MSRP.

Oh, and he also claimed that it takes a year to get an ordered Maverick.

If you see one on a dealers' website, call and verify that it's for sale. Oftentimes a vehicle will show up on the website that is a customer order and not available for you to purchase.

I personally wouldn't pay over MSRP for a vehicle, no matter the brand or model, but that's me. You can find them at MSRP if you look and are willing to travel out if you local area to purchase.

Dealer fees also vary widely and are most often negotiable to some extent.

Also, You salesman is correct. It CAN take a year to receive a Maverick that you order, sometimes longer. How quickly you receive an ordered vehicle depends on many variables, some of which are, the dealers allocation, the actual options/color combination ordered, Ford's algorithmic prioritization system, and quite possibly the local and global weather forecast - especially the direction of the wind in both Detroit and at the plant in Mexico.

How does a Lariat seat differ from any other trim? Don't all the models run on the same frame/runners? Only difference is in the material they use? Not trying to be argumentative just curious.

I thought the seat base and tracks were the same between all trim levels 🤔

There MIGHT be a difference in the amount of adjustability between the manual seat and the power seat, but, I don't know whether or not that's the case. OP didn't mention if the two trims he sat in both had power seats or not.

If you're paying a premium price on a Maverick when there are literally 100+ days of supply at most Ford dealers, hell I paid MSRP on my Tremor in early 23 when Maverick were extremely hard to find. Just order the 25, in black preferably.

Why black?
Black is my least favorite color.
It also get dirty faster than any other color.
I just ordered a 2025 and I hesitated between green and red, my wife choose the red one.
Just a matter of taste.
I paid a little less for my maverick at the dealer than it was on Ford website ( about $3000.00)
I ordered mine about 2 months ago. I was told that I would have to wait 8 months at least to get it but it is scheduled to be build this coming week. Que sera, sera.

Dochawk,
You didn't say which dealership you went to???
As you probably know.
Your choices in Las Vegas comes down to 2 families that own the 4 Ford dealerships.
Gaudin Ford and Ford Country are owned by the Ackerman’s
Friendly Ford is owned by Ed Olliges and
Team Ford is by Ed's son Steve Olliges

In reality, you're down to just 2 dealerships.
Good Luck

Basically the front end is god awful, the black hides the front from looking too bad, just my opinion though

You are CORRECT.
Fords own publish dimensions state there's no difference in legroom between the trim levels.
The seat track and mounting position is EXACTLY the same on the Lariat and XLT with power seats.
The only difference is the seat covering.
With a tilt and telescoping steering wheel,we have no idea what position it was in between the XLT VS Lariat. What position was the seat back and bottom were adjusted to. Also there could be an agenda to justify the purchase and price of a Lariat VS XLT?

👍 Yep.
The same as my XLT.

Ford Maverick seating difference between XLT and Lariat 20241103_125317

From Fords own website.
There is no legroom difference between a Ford Maverick XLT and a Lariat; both trims offer the same amount of legroom in the front and rear seats, as the interior dimensions are identical across all Maverick trim levels.

Ford Maverick Interior: Dimensions
The first thing you will notice about the interior of the Ford Maverick is the space. It may be listed as a compact truck, but you will be impressed by the dimensions it provides.
For example, front passengers have 40.3 inches of headroom and rear passengers have 39.6 inches of headroom, if you choose the option that includes a moonroof. If you choose to go without a moonroof, you get 38 inches of front headroom and 39.5 inches of rear headroom.
The Ford Maverick also provides 42.8 inches of front legroom and 36.9 inches of rear legroom. There is also 55.4 inches of hip room in front and 54.1 inches of hip room for rear passengers.
Overall, the Ford Maverick has 100.3 cubic feet of passenger volume.

Facts are facts.
If there were a difference. Ford would publicize it. In order to get people into their higher cost trim level. It all comes down to where the seats were adjusted and the placebo effect of a nicer interior.

that could be, although that dealer doesn't usually show a price on vehicles in transit. But except for the one dealer's sneaky package, none of the maverick's in town showing a price are above MSRP, whether eco or hybrid.

I personally wouldn't pay over MSRP for a vehicle, no matter the brand or model, but that's me. You can find them at MSRP if you look and are willing to travel out if you local area to purchase.
It sure seems like I'll be going to granger.

Yeah, but that's not what he said. It was an unqualified statement that they can only be ordered with a full year wait.

he was rather clearly trying to come up with whatever, true or not, would slide me to taking now, and out of what he had. There was a bunch more bad-talking of the hybrid, the CVT, and such.

How does a Lariat seat differ from any other trim?
I don't know what the difference was, other than that naugas died to coat the Lariat seats.

However, fully back in the XLT with electric seat, I couldn't fully extend my left leg, nor was my left thigh adequately supported by the seat (couldn't rest my weight on it, so I was supporting the thigh.

In the lariat, I could fully extend, and rest my thigh on the seat.

I thought the seat base and tracks were the same between all trim levels 🤔
so did the first salesgirl!

This☝
Black is the only color that masks some of the fugliness of the awful '25MY front end.

OP should also be aware that in the '25, they removed the physical HVAC controls to the stupid & distracting screen.
