Seating Comfort

After 7 really amazing months driving my 26 Lariat without a single complaint, now I finally have one. Took it for its first long road trip this month with my grandson (300+ miles each way), and I gotta say that we both felt pretty stiff and achy at the end of the drives. I may be concluding that the ergonomics just don’t work for me but I dearly hope that’s not the case since I love everything else about it.

Has anyone out there found effective aftermarket solutions to this conundrum of mine?

The foam is so thin, anything over an hour drive and I have to use this memory foam pillow to make it tolerable. My wife's 9 y.o. Escape has *bigger more comfortable seats.

I agree with you. I find the seat bottom foam to be to thin anything more than a hour and my ass an back hurts.. My F350,F150's,Ranger all had much better seats than my Mav. I will look into better seat bottom foam in the future.

I had a 2004 Hyundai Elantra hatchback (the one that had the Saab-like body). Great car, great fuel economy, but seats made from Legos would have been more cushiony.

I am shopping XL and XLT trims and finding the seat cushion to be very thin and only toward the rear of the seat. The front half of the driver's cusihon feels like it is 3/8" foam. What is weird is that both the XL and XLT seats are the same but for some reason the XLT seats feel slightly softer. Probably the material. I was also looking to see what others had done to add seat cushioning.

My girl and I have no complaints with the seats 14 hours down to Tennessee and another 14 hours back up after our week long vacation last Thanksgiving. My did girl hate my '17 Elantra seats on the same trip the previous year.

I have no problem with seating in my 25 Lariat. Very comfortable even on 7 or 8 hour drives.

Me either, up to 16 hours in my XLT, but my butt probably isn't just like everyone else's.

If I have one complaint on my 23 XLT Hybrid, it is the seat comfort. I have the same issue you did on my long drives. A pillow on the lumbar area helped me the most, but does not eliminate the issue. Not enough to prevent me from driving it on long trips, but it is the one complaint I have with my great little truck

Interesting topic. Synopsis? Age is probably a big factor, as well as body habitus. Youngsters still have butt muscles to prevent pressure on the tuberosities, obese people already have built in cushion. Having a relatively lean form, with atrophic buttocks I can't sit anywhere for more than an hour without butt pain; my solution was courtesy of Dollar Tree (you all have one near you!) - $5 memory foam neck pillow. It's perfect for me, larger butts might not find it sufficient, but it's "multi-use" and conveniently portable.
