I just don't understand why people undo their belts and let them fly back in the retracter and allow that harsh banging of the buckle hitting whatever it hits, without putting a bit of thought into doing some kind of damage.
I do it. It's a truck, not a collector item. It is a usable commodity. No matter how careful you are it will eventually get a scratch. I have mush less stress in my life because I spent 47 years in injection molding and know for a fact plastic scratches so deal with it. On the plus side I have never had plastic door skins rust out but my 63 Fairlane I started driving on did.
Yea I get it, but there are folks who think differently, and they're just looking for some tips on dealing with whatever turns their crank today. Some folks have never spent 30 something thousand dollars on a vehicle, and want to keep it nice. It happens!
Meh. This is my 8th vehicle (and second Ford) with a "plastic interior" - and it's by far the worst, period. Ford made some poor choices here related to plastic formulation, color, and texture - and I can't imagine all of them were even cost-related.
I'd be very surprised if PPF will stick to the textured interior plastic, which is probably LDPE. Plastic in general has low surface energy, so materials only adhere well if the surface is prepped with adhesion promoter.
One of the things I consider when deciding on protection items is how much of a pain it would be to replace or refinish the thing it's protecting versus the cost of the item. Mabett mud flaps are like $40, which is a lot cheaper than a paint job. Cheap seat covers are $30 for both rows, which is way cheaper than one upholstery repair.
Well, be prepared to be surprised.
Keeping it nice is my goal also. Losing sleep over a B pillar plastic trim piece that I can't see unless I look at it from outside with the door open is not an issue to me. I don't go out of my way to damage my vehicles but I don;t lose sleep over scuffs on plastic especially molded in color plastics.
