Went to the hospital to visit a patient and saw a Rivian being charged. Has anyone noticed that it kinda looks like a very large Maverick (except for the front doors)?
Someone said the headlights reminded him of "Little Ophan Annie!) I agree with him.

I saw this one last winter before I had my Mav. Looks okay but super $$$ Not for me . It has a cool compartment right in front of rear wheel. Hard to see on picture but the guy opened it up when I was their. At first i thought he had engine issue till I saw it was a Rivian.

I live 30 miles away from the Rivian plant in Bloomington/Normal Illinois. I see them on the road, but have never seen one carrying anything in the bed. The looks have some similarities with the Maverick. I believe Ford was an early partner of Rivian and pulled out?

I love this reference as we use it in the lab.

My best friend had preordered a Rivian R1T in 2021 and was going to pass the order on to me. The benefit was I would have been able to get it at 2021 prices, and they look like really awesome trucks. As I waited on my Maverick, I spent a lot of time researching the R1T and gave it some serious consideration. My friend is a bit flashier than I am, but I couldn't pull the trigger on that expensive of a vehicle. Another thing that I didn't like was the closest service center was 4 hours away from me. I don't know if the mobile technician would have made up for that.

Now if they come out with a smaller platform, I may reconsider it in the future, but I'm pretty content with my vehicle.

“I believe Ford was an early partner of Rivian and pulled out?”

That sounds familiar, and during the ‘partnership’, some design teams were shared.

Ford still holds around 11 million Rivian shares but sold the majority of them last year. Fords interest in Rivian probably had more to do with the technical side of things because of the up and coming Mach-E and later the F-150 Lightning than it did with any exterior design elements.

I personally think they look nothing like each other.

I have a Rivian R1T and am picking up a XLT Maverick for my daughters.

I love the Rivian and we'll love the Maverick, just different trucks for different customer base with being pickup truck the only thing in common.

My Rivian has 835 horsepower and 908 ft-lb of torque, weighs 3 and a half tons, can tow 11K pounds has 350 mile range and is obviously an EV.....Expensive, at $80K+ but well equipped and extremely capable. It's a beast, but road trips like my old Lexus and can probably climb a rock wall. It's a design overhaul being a roller skate battery/motor sled with a body attached with fancy air suspension all run by computers.

The Maverick will be about $30K with enough safety and equipment to keep both my young daughters safe with my youngest who just got her permit learning to drive it. My oldest can drive it back and forth to college in TN (from GA) without thinking or planning at all. It's an almost bare bones Ford truck, plain and simple. It's reflected in styling, features, and hopefully durability.

They'll both have their uses, nothing wrong with either of them.

I like the Rivian truck except for the front end - That looks like shit (imo), but like the rest. But I'm not a EV fan or purchaser at all until they cure the infrastructure, battery technology issues and warranty/service availability to a decent local distance, regardless of manufacturer.

With a small amount of planning, those issues except having a local Rivian SC location no longer exist. Without any planning they definitely do exist.

First I've seen in this color... It is not pretty... Very gimmicky looking in red for sure. Of course that is just my opinion, which isn't worth any more than anyone esle's...

I watched a Cramer sit down with the Rivian CEO. They went through hundreds of iterations of that front end design. They did it for a very specific reason. They're a new brand, and they wanted a design that announced Rivian the instant you saw it. Because they're building brand awareness. He said something like "if you see an oncoming Rivian hundreds of feet away, you instantly know what it is". And he's right.

Love it or hate it (I like it), they're selling everything they make. And they definitely achieved their goal of brand awareness. I find them absolutely beautiful vehicles inside and out, in person, close up. Wish I could afford one. Maybe the R2T in a few years.

BTW, every time I've heard the Rivian CEO talk, he's greatly impressed me. He's grounded, savvy, highly intelligent, and strategic. This company is one of the few startups that's gonna make it. Because the leader is a grown up.

Yup, the Rivian always reminded me of a bigger Maverick. I first saw it years ago at the New York Auto show. Had the pleasure of meeting the Rivian staff there - they were small enough back then that they were on the floor interacting with the public. Nice people.

We have several Rivians around the Asheville area. I've always loved the R1T, but I can't afford one (and it's too big for me). They're coming out with a smaller R2 in the next year (to be shown this summer), but it will likely remain out of reach for most Maverick buyers. Think $50,000 +-.

All the reviews on the Rivian truck and SUV are glowing - everyone puts them at the top of the heap. You may spend a lot, but you get an insanely awesome vehicle.

I'm most excited from seeing the Toyota EPU (concept) electric pickup truck reveal. It's the size of the Maverick, conventionally styled, has a mid-gate and an extending tailgate for an 8' bed in a package a few inches shorter than the Mav. But I betcha it'll also be real money.
Today, the cheapest Rivian you can buy New is costing $79,000. Go to the Rivian web site to see.
