Saturday DIY project. PPF film for hood protection

Decided to try 8mm PPF order to protect portion of the hood from flying debris. Not easy job. Took an hour but it's done. Covered 12 inches max at the center and about 4 inched at lights. I spent about 30$ on all of that. self healing meaning if it gets scratched.... It will self level it self with the heat.

What was your paint prep procedure? Seems like everything online just says use a clay bar and you are good to go.

I did clay bar and 2 coats of ceramic 3 weeks ago. Only had 2 wash lightly and whip with fresh towel.

I personally do claybar in conjunction with ironX to make sure I get all the rail dust out of the paint.

Messed up on my first install but I gained valuable experience by just re installing it until I got it right. Check out the air pockets or fingers on left side

I don't know much about doing PPF by yourself, is it safe to do outside (dust/pollen/leaves a problem?) or is a garage required. We don't have a garage but can borrow a relative's, assuming I ever get the Maverick.
