The safety feature of a solid lamp indication in the driver/passenger mirror when a vehicle enters the danger area around the vehicle is nice and so is the quick flashing of that indication when you engage your turn signal indicating that you are planning a turn into the protected region but WHY don't you go one step farther and make it useful a protective. You could even add a selection in the menu system to either accept/engage the feature or leave it as it is now (visual only). You have the BLIS System.

From Ford "BLIS activates when you are driving faster than six miles per hour. The light sensor in the rear will send a signal, and you can see it blinking from both side mirrors. The detection area is from 13 feet and can extend to 59 feet, with a speed higher than 30 mph above the rear bumper. Also, it is accessible on both sides of the car." WHY CAN'T Ford also use the same audible protection beeping or sound(s) that audibly activate when cross traffic is detected? That fast beeping surely gets your attention and so it could do the same if you are about to turn into someone in your protection area or blindside.

What I'd love to see (especially if implemented on older versions or allowed as a modification on older versions) is for FORD to program in the sounding of an audible warning similar to the rear sensor beeping. like as you approach something from the rear sensors, or seat belt warning, or some kind of audible warning that would come on and engage at the same time that the current flashing of the in-mirror light when you engage the turn signal indicates a desire to turn. I'm not saying a bell, tone, or audible warning when a vehicle enters the protection range but ONLY an audible indication when the danger zone is occupied and the turn signal engaged indicating a turn is desired.

Many other vehicles I have had offer this feature and this audible warning has saved me countless times. I'm not saying anything would have happened without it and I do look and not just listen but that audible notification which really should be easy and inexpensive to program into your system on all your vehicles would and could be beneficial to all drivers. I so wish you would do this. As I said if the driver doesn't want it then make it in the menu system where the driver could have the option of choosing what to use either none, visual only, or visual and audible. Why is this not something Ford has not thought of before or why has Ford not implemented it?

Thanks for the consideration and if others think this is helpful, and/or have experienced it on other vehicles, please sound out your feelings and voice your input.

audible indication when the danger zone is occupied and the turn signal engaged indicating a turn is desired.

I have often wondered why there wasn't an audible tone when turning on turn signal while traffic is in that area. I think it could save many accidents.

I'd like to see the rear camera display come on when turn signal is activated to see if someone is behind/beside me. Supplements looking over shoulder. Had it on my Wrangler and thought it should be on all cars.

There IS a fast audible warning you when you are in reverse and there is cross traffic indicated so I would assume it to be a programming issue or something minor to get the same warning signal as cross-traffic added and implemented when the turn signal is engaged while there is an occupied signal in the warning are of the blind side protection feature.

I became so used to this with my Mercedes E350 that it's so evident how much it could save accidents if Ford would only implement it in their CoPilot 360 option.

I also think the mirrors could have been a tad bigger especially considering the absence of the audible signal.

All my Mazdas, including a 2008 CX-9, have an audible warning in addition to the blind spot visual warning.

I was surprised Ford didn’t do it as well, thought it would be an industry standard implementation by now. Hope I don’t make a lane change mistake if my eyes are elsewhere and I miss the visual cue when used to an audible warning.

Sign me up for the same petition! Or use Ford‘s new and much hyped customer feedback system.

It should have at least been selectable.

I would LOVE to see the audible warning as well when signaling a lane change into an occupied lane. The mirror light simply isn’t enough sometimes. I also wouldn’t mind a steering wheel shake muck like lane keeping assist to go along with it. Keep it configurable so that those who don’t want big brother looking over their shoulder can disable it.

As for me, I want big brother, big sister, and a choir of angles to help keep me out of harm’s way.

Likewise.

My son's Mazda3 has the audible alert, and it is a great addition to a visual alert. I have an XL and had to go old school and put those tiny blind spot mirrors on the (already too small) stock XL mirrors.

I was happy when the blind spot was displayed in the center rear view mirror, outside mirrors not as much.
