Oh I hadn't noticed that it's a hard-sided popup! That's a great idea, I've never seen anything like it around here

completely uninformed question:

does this type of pop up trailer have long-term durability issues like you'd see on a fixed trailer with slide-outs?

Of all the research I did it seems there are limited to no issues. TM have the front and backs extend out w the use of a torsion bar lift mechanism springs. Thr torsion bar system has a lifetime warranty.
See thecwebsite w a visual of how it opens up plus the FAQ has more info on their warranty.

This particular brand of trailer, completely the opposite, they are well engineered and built.

even well built slide-outs require maintenance or replacement with a lot of use. since this is sliding also - granted, up and down - I wanted to ask.

Thank you for making this post and showing this absolutely gorgeous trailer!

My parents had a trailer like this in the 1970’s and I thought this breed went extinct because I never see them around. I didn’t have the right vocabulary to even Google search for them.

But I kept thinking that a low-drag telescoping camp trailer would be perfect for the Maverick. Not a vintage 1970’s one, but a modern 2025 version of a telescoping trailer.

And here one is! I will defitely
Be checking these out.

And I think this is what my parents had:

Are you using a WDH (Weight Distribution Hitch) ?

Even though FORD may not recommend, I towed a 2619 with a Honda Pilot (Honda did not recommend WDH) it made a massive difference in handling characteristics.

What type of brake controller have you installed? Even if your state may not require, I would have one.

Enjoy your new camper.

We plan to get an Anderson WD hitch although it handled well with winds on I-10 in TX and NM. We'll feel safer once installed. I have the standard 4K package from Ford on my Maverick.

I think the (CYA) "Not recommendation of WDH" is the additional torque transferred to any unibody vehicle.

I can't find any recommendation against WDH in Ford literature for the Maverick. There is precisely no additional or excessive torque vector on a hitch from a WDH vs a weight carrying hitch when properly set up, it is just in the opposite direction about the axis of the rear axle. My Ford Transit had a recommendation against WDH, but it was safely ignored, and in fact was ignored by the manufacturer itself, as the tow testing for J2807 and other road tests were photographed using weight distribution hitches. Trailmanor also recommends using a WDH.

In the latest (2025) Ford towing guide, they do show weight distribution hitches and they list the Maverick. https://www.vdm.ford.com/content/da.../2025-Ford-RV-and-Trailer-Towing-Guide_v1.pdf

what I find most interesting about this table on page 8 is that the Mustang is listed and says no correction factor, same as the Maverick. then we see the Transit actually says that a WDH is not recommended.

most manufacturers don't have a guide this robust. Ford does, and to me it looks like they think a WDH is fine on the Maverick.

Hi Alan,
Have you had a chance to road trip yet? If so, how has the trailer worked out?
I've been considering a Trailmanor as a future purchase but was curious how the Maverick would do after loading up? Thanks.

We brought it back to AZ 1,000 miles plus from TX via I-10 & 17. Lots of crosswinds the first day but no concerns 18 - 19 mpg. 2nd day limited winds and averaged about 22 mpg from Tucson to Sedona.
We have to watch weight but they make a 2518 that is 200 - 300 lbs lighter. About the same amount t of open floor space if choosing the QD or QS.

If you go to the FB Trailmanor club you'll see many of the folks have trailers that are 15 - 20 years old.

Right now we are not but planning to get an Anderson Hitch type system. We've read great things about them. It seems to be 50/50 to use a system on these low profile trailers. Ours towed great.
