Anybody have a problem with the glue which is laminating the felt on the sides of the cover melting, only to find a gooey mess and the felt delaminated and flopping in the bed? Ford Accessory is giving me a runaround trying to get a warranty repair.

I had the tape/glue at the ends on mine. I trimmed off the last 3 inches, re-prepped with 3M 4298 Adhesive Prep and used some 3M VHB tape to re-attach. It has held quite well through the last month or so for me out on the east coast.

Same issue, but only on the starboard side (weird). Contact cement ‘fix’ didn’t, lasted 6 weeks, found it draped in the bed this morning. Ugh.

Service appointment booked for 8-17, hoping the Department is aware of the ‘fix’ I found within this site. I was told to “bring pictures “.

Stay tuned.

I have the same concern--also cover on outside peeling away from edges--this should be a warranty repair- It has been brought to the attention of my service advisor, he took pictures of the concern but i have not heard back--i will contact service manager tomorrow to see if he is in the loop before i initiate a formal complaint

I have the same problem. I’d like to just remove it since it doesn’t seem to have any purpose, or does it? Has anyone done that?

I did. Used "Goof Off" to remove the glue residue. Didn't affect the function or usability. Understand that the warranty replacement covers don't have the Ford emlem on the underside anymore.

[not going to search/surf the other thread I’ve replied to…]

Update: after a dealer runaround, crazy talk of “we’ll replace it, won’t be the same, and if it happens again, you’re on your own”. Crazy Talk.

So, a small tube of 3M 4200 white (black woulda been better, had white) did the trick. Spread a thin bead in the flats and the radius edges (you’ll know it when you see it) and did the application in @ 12” sections, pressing and rolling up as the sections were completed.

Unrolled once completed, pressed and smoothed into place again. Repeated this pressing process again. 4200 is a pain to squeeze out, but it sticks like glue (ugh, sorry).

Problem solved, minor irritation in the rear view mirror. 30 minutes, start to finish.
Thanks Fox Ford (yeah, naming names…)

Lovin’ the Maverick!

It does have a purpose, after your truck has been in the Sun for a couple of hours, try rolling it up just using the aluminum slats. TOO hot in our area to touch for long, can't imagine an AZ sun.
I'm waiting for an answer from my Ford dealer. There are other posts on this, apparently there is a new design using plastic grips instead of the felt.

Here's my latest, after dealer replaced the hard roll up with exactly what looks to be the same, Ford logo and all. After two months, in the sun, I've had NO PROBLEM whatsoever. The glue now being used must be something different, and can withstand the temperature without melting. Thank you FORD! Appreciate the warranty and the fix.

I had the same problem with the felt liner coming off. I went to my local dealership (not the one I purchased from) and spoke to the service manager. She ordered me another one. Tomorrow they are having a mobile tech come to my work and replace the cover.

Ford sent a mobile tech this morning and swapped it out. Same version. I'm happy with it
