I finally put some passengers in the back seat. They were fine with the room, but they said that everytime I would stop, the seatback (padding) would tip forward away from the rear wall. I looked afterwards and it's really easy to tip it forward to gain access to the electronics and hidey space. Is there any way to lock the seatback against the wall? I couldn't see how at the time, but it *was* at night.

The latch on my first Maverick wasn't adjusted well and took a LOT of force to close. As I traded the XLT in on a Lariat I didn't worry about it.

I have a 23 Hybrid XL and have to give the seat bqck a good slam to get it to latch. At first I was just babying it and it would not latch.

Close it from the passenger side. It will latch easier from that side by design. That’s the side you should access the Jack from.

First couple of times, the seat needs a good push to latch. Seems to get easier overtime, or I'm just slapping it shut faster than the initially. - More a rapid push than a hard push.

That backrest should be locked in place. You might have to slam it hard to get the latch to engage. But also check for anything blocking it or that the latch is malfunctioning.
It is best and easier to get it to latch from the passenger side also mentioned in manual.

Thanks everyone! Passenger side and a good slam solved the problem!

Hello! Could you privately message us with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer so I can look into this seat concern? Thank you!

You have to pull a strap up to " unlatch" the rear seat back, maybe it's not latched?

Once again the Mav Club answered my question. I don't much LIKE having to slam the seatback, but it works, so Yay!
