I think there will still be a
I'm about 99.9% confident that won't happen.

I'm only about 80% sure that people with MY23 Lariat base and MY23 XLT non-lux with BAP who all 'have' to move into MY24 Lariat Lux or XLT Lux will have to pay full price to upgrade to the lux packages. It's possible that Ford will discount lux a little bit to soften the blow, but I doubt it.
agreed. Seems like the wording on the private offers gives them this wiggle room.

Not true. You just sell to another dealer. You sign limited power of attorney and release title to them. They send payoff to bank. DOT sends released title directly to them. And you walk away with check for whatever the difference is between what you owed and what they paid you for the vehicle.

This is done every day.
Carvana, CarMax and others will not do this. The vehicle has to be registered in your name to get an offer from them.

An in-person car dealership can and does do this except for the check that day part. I have not seen that and instead they pay the loan in 5-10 business days, then after being sure the loan is cleared, they pay you. It's still fast enough to avoid first payment unless they really drag their feet.

It used to be that this was always a remorse trade-in -- whoops, my wife isn't happy I bought that Corvette -- but obviously in the past few years, flipping from MSRP into the secondary market often can be profitable.

Seems like you may want to re-evaluate your decision making process. Why did you order a Maverick when you didn't need a truck and if saving gas was a top priority why didn't you get the Corolla first? And everyone says the Maverick is the only vehicle one has to wait for so what was going on with 5 month Corolla wait?
I wanted it at the time I placed the order... but then something else came along. After the dust settled I saw I could take possession of the truck and make a little money off of it. Pretty simple, not the first, wont be the last.

raising the price, not improving the vehicle (heck if anything making it worse) and not making people's trucks that were ordered a long time ago adds up to some pretty frustrated people that are going to move onto something else.

My 23 XLT Hybrid just arrived and I now plan to sell it. I've had my Corolla Hybrid for a few months (after waiting 5 months for it to be built) now and am loving 55 mpg. While a truck is more flexible and would make certain occasions more enjoyable I have a hard time with the idea of selling the car and I'm not in a situation where two new cars makes sense financially (1st new car in my life was the Corolla and I dont do auto loans).
You'll have to change your tag to INOLONGERWANNAATRUCK

Look, I am going to state this plainly: You are wrong.

How do I know? Because I literally made a sale of a Maverick I owned last week under these exact circumstances. Do you think I would have left the truck with the dealer and handed him the keys if he didn't give me a check for my cut?

You are confusing REGISTRATION with TITLE. I had a valid registration for the truck in my name. What I did not have was the title, because the truck had a lien.

It's really simple. You agree to sell the truck to the dealer for an amount greater than the lien (loan) on the truck. The dealer sends the bank a check for the loan payoff, along with some papers you sign telling the bank to update ownership info so that when the lien is released, the state department of transportation send the paper title directly to the dealership.

Then, you hand them the keys and walk away with your check. In fact, it takes about five minutes to sign and go if the dealer has the registration and bank payoff information in advance. The dealer gets a document from the bank with a payoff quote that is good until a specified date. So, there's no waiting "five to 10 days" because they are worried the loan won't be paid off.

Oh, as as far as Carmax, Carvana, etc., not doing this. You are wrong on that too. These companies are also dealers, and they absolutely buy vehicles EVERY DAY from people who have vehicles with liens (loans).

My dealer in Indy had 10 new slots for '24 (I got #7). He had 32 rollovers from '23 to fill...

Actually I'm not, but what I failed to notice is in the post of yours that I quoted is that you were replying to someone who definitely was talking about title.

I'm talking about registration. There are some people who try to flip their Maverick without registering it. We are in agreement that this is not possible.

She decided she'd rather have another SUV. And yes, dealers were happy to pay her for the trouble of having driven it for two months.

My bad. I did get you confused with someone else talking about title.

Yes, as long as you have a registration in your name, you can absolutely sell AND walk away with a check the same day. Of course, you can't get a registration without purchasing the vehicle...

5 months? A cakewalk compared to the Mav.

Damn must be a lot then
They entered 400 unscheduled 23 orders on Monday/Tuesday. That filled their allocation for the year.
(Talking about LM) I believe that still leaves them with 100 unfilled '23 orders that they do not have allocations for. They hope to work with Ford on getting them filled somehow. I think they took 1000 '23 orders.

Have only looked at the first page of this thread, but I would assume that if my preorder was coming up to actually be ordered I would have had a call by now.
