I'm on my 4th in coming up to 2 years of ownership.

1. Original
2. HIghway resurfacing. Paid out of pocket for OE ~$1150 since I didn't have glass coverage.
3. Random rocks on highway. Glass coverage. Got a garbage aftermarket window that was too small. Way too much gap on top and sides. Also showed damage from window shop cutting out old sealant.
4. Replaced aftermarket with OE free of charge due to said damage. (knock on wood)

When you live in Phoenix. It doesn't matter how you drive. You will be replacing windshields.

Have had to replace my windshield 3.5 times in not even two years since owning, from rocks smashing into glass. One of the times required me to have the pillar repainted. The .5 time was having to stop a crack from spreading from a rock that worked, but the crack remained, until another rock hit the glass.

This last time really pissed me off, as saw the hit happen, and the crack spread across the glass, There was a medium size truck in front of me, but not for at least 45 yards.

The way i see it:
1 time bad luck
2 time bad luck/coincidence
3 times starting to think theres some design aerodynamic issues going on
3.5. Enough is enough.
Own a Jeep Wrangler.... Windshield Break so much you can get insurance from Jeep to cover it.

There are several factors involved in getting hit by flying debris on the highway. Following distance is not a dead cert for avoiding this especially in high traffic situations. I once saw a Grand Cherokee have it’s drivers side mirror removed during rush hour by a foot long 4x4 that fell off a flat bed trailer several lanes over to the Jeeps drivers side. 50-60-70 mph good luck avoiding a rock the size of a raisin or smaller when vehicles are to the left and to the right at highway speeds.
Hood protectors and bug deflectors are good at covering previous damage done to the front edge of the hood by rocks, gravel, etc.
Twice, we have gotten a chip on a well divided highway with nothing closer than 200-300 yards around us. Little bitty 🛸???
Shite happens, much to the chagrin of crack repair and windshield replacement company’s.

i think you missed the part where the last time it happened, the truck was almost a half a football field in front of me.....tailgating...yup!!!1
I think you missed the part where American males never take responsibility for their own incompetence and find it easier to blame somebody or something else. Your driving skills, or lack thereof, prove my point. Blaming Ford for your own self caused problems is so very typical.

Blaming Ford is pathetic. Stuff happens. Drivers tailgate all the time and speed. Typically American male Rambos.

If you haven't already, modify your comprehensive deductible between $0 and $100, whatever the lowest is your insurance will allow. I've done it since like 1985. Has saved me numerous times on shelling out money for this kind of stuff. Sorry for your bad luck.

Mine currently has a couple small chips, but I'm not gonna sweat them until they get bigger.

I have never had to replace a windshield in 40+ years of driving. Driven every type of vehicle that doesn't require a CDL. My strategy is stay well behind any large vehicle that will kick up debris. Other drivers are more than willing to cut into that space and take the hit.
I once had a bolt from an overhead bridge construction project get dropped and destroy my convertible top rear glass on my 2007 Mustang GT. Had to replace my whole top, and thanks to $0 deductible, it was nothing out of my pocket. Of course, it was never the same after that. Wasn't an exact fit.

Everything's bigger in Texas.
Probably the rocks on the road too.
San Antonio has 18 active quarries and limestone trucks running 24x7 on the road dripping their limestone crumbs all over the highways. You can't even get away with opening your house windows for all the dust. One of the many reasons I left Texas.

Shortly after I picked up my Mav, I found myself surrounded by dump trucks. Just as I was thinking that this wasn't a good thing, a rock came from somewhere and hit the right front passenger side and took off some paint. My guess is that if it was flying a little higher there goes the windshield.

We have a lot of debris on our roads here. A lot of horrible people that lift their pavement princess, wheels outside the fenders, but of course, no mud flaps or fender flairs.

I have replaced 2 windshields in my entire life.

What is happening down there in Texas?
Has the dealership checked the opening where the windshield fits into? There has to be a burr or the cab is twisted somewhere.

If you had two or more windhsields replaced already then you need to back off and increase your following distance and stay away from trucks. I would also install a Bug Deflector II on the front as it might help. I notice that this really does have a lot of dead bugs on it after a trip and it has to help slightly with small peebles and stones that get kicked up since I do have some nicks and scratches on mine already at 4K. You need to do something or your luck is not going to change. The deflector is only like $90.

The Maverick sits lower than a lot of new cars and all new trucks so that makes the problem worse.

Pretty much wrong place at the wrong time. I've had to replace windshields in F150's, Explorer's, Expedition's, Volvo's, Hyundai's and Honda's. Sometimes 2 or 3 in a year, but then I might go 5-7 years without a hit. The rocks that are the worst are the one's that are thrown up by vehicles going in the opposite direction. When I get behind a truck throwing out sand, dirt, rocks, I'll hang back until I can get a clear path to pass, and then let her rip and get around ASAP ;)
