The other day I was following directions to my sisters ranch, I was lost and running out of fuel. I got there on E and tried adding fuel so I could drive to the gas station 45 kilometers away . What a nightmare trying to add gas with a regular type red plastic gas can. I called the dealer ,they never heard of this problem.. I read my owners manual and was told to look at the jack package ,I would find an attachment for adding gas. Nope the jack has never been used and there is no attachment. The dealer never heard of this attachment ,and had not read the owners manual .
I'm up here in Canada , maybe the attachment isn't needed when adding gas by the liter instead of gallons ( lol ) . My Maverick is a 2023 Lariat Tremor .Eco boost . Any suggestions besides don't get lost in the future ?
I think I have an extra Ford funnel in the truck, I got 2 somehow and you would be welcome to it. But I'm guessing it would be more to mail to you than what it cost either on Amazon or making the dealer give you one for free.

they should give you one, did you check UNDER the back seat? one of mine was there and one in the glove box. I use it quite a bit, as I play the Kroger fuel points game and only buy 35 gallon of gas at a time. So the trucks get filled up with gas cans quite often. I do think calling it a funnel is wrong, as it's barely large enough to pour fuel into. I use one of these:

You got 2 ? You don’t even need 1, you have a hybrid! 😉

In my hybrid, under the rear seat, to the passenger-side of the 12V battery, is a cubby. That cubby seems to go all of the way into the rocker panel, it is so deep. Deep in there is where my little funnel is. I'm the kind of person who kind of tears apart anything new I get to find every detail and so I only found it because I was digging in there to see how deep it went. Also I knew the white funnel should be in the vehicle somewhere so it was on my mind as I dug around the vehicle looking to see what's what.

Add the slightest bit of stress or let anything else be in that spot and I bet nobody would find it.

110% of most car owner's manual information is not really that helpful, or can be gleaned by just driving the vehicle, but that little tidbit in the manual about using the "included funnel" to put gas into the tank is rather vital. I feel like they should tape those instructions over the fill cap for the first owner to see and tear off before fueling for the first time. Of course this doesn't help the second owner... or the person who buys it after the dealer rips it off...

P.S. My wife's Honda is the same way. At this point these funnels should be sold with and kept with any gas can as it is getting very common.

P.P.S. Next try putting gasoline into a fully electric vehicle! That is far more complicated.

Sometimes us hybrid owners want to extend our range a little further than normal.
🇨🇦 Canadians 🇨🇦 certainly know what I'm talking about.
We have easy, cheap options for extended long range off grid travel.
Also available to EcoBoost owners.

*It doesn't cost us Hundreds or Thousands of Dollars for our Extended Range option. 😆
*EV Owners.
This is why electric vehicles don't cut it in the Nevada.

Glen, thanks for posting this picture. I've always wondered if a non-spout cap was available for this style of can, found them on ebay.

Thanks, HRG
The threads are sometimes a quirky size. You've really have to have the can and cap together to see if it will fit correctly. They definitely are not universal one size fits all.

I've had those concertina flexible spout caps for gas cans, that are slender ended for newer fillers, come with the gascan but crack up after a year or two and the replacement is almost as much as a new gas can.

I got lucky I've had this one for 40 years.
I had one of those steel bendy ones before that.
I don't think they sell these.

Mine was under the back seat when I bought the truck. I have always checked for such things since nothing fits.

If you have a newer portable gas can it is equiped with an EPA certified spout. You can't get gas out of one of those containers without spilling gas and make ng a real mess. I have a red jerry can from HB. It came with an insert to keep gas from splashing back at you when you fill it. That's a joke. If you get a hold of it with needle nose pliers, you can twist it around and pull it out. Don't let it slip or it will be rattling around in the can forever. Do that, change the spout and it will become a very good gas can. Those OSHA spouts are a real good way to start a fire. I hope I never get to use my little white funnel.

40 years!! That is truly amazing that it hasn’t disintegrated or at least split apart after so long!
