I've search the forum and google it, but can't find an answer.
Can Ford audio receive and respond to text by voice (with or without android car play) ?
This function works great in my 2019 Ford Ranger with sync 3, but does not appear to be available with Ford audio that is found in the Maverick. (XLT/Lux)
Am I SOL, or do I have something in setting set wrong in either my truck or my phone ?

It worked on my wifes iphone and my caterpillar flip phone and my ulefone tablet. It worked simpler with her iphone plugged in but my non apple stuff did bluetooth easy.

Yes, but you need to be wired (USB) in to hear and send txt with my iPhone. Not sure if it will work via blue tooth.

You can, but your phone has to be either connected via one of the usb ports, or through a wireless dongle. It is so stupid that the XLT trim only supports hands free calling and nav(automatically). How much more would it cost to make the full version of Sync standard on all trims? I just installed a dongle I bought at Best Buy. $90.00. It works great.

I'm not sure what you mean. The full sync version on Lariat Mavericks do not support wireless Android auto or carplay without an adapter either.

I made an apparently erroneous assumption that the Sync system, available in higher trim levels, required no wired connection to the vehicle to interface with a broader range of phone apps.

Yeah, I'm still perplexed as to why they added a wireless charging pad and No Wireless AA or Carplay ability.

I use the Moto MA1 AA adapter and it's worked flawlessly.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I should clarify my situation. I do have android auto that hooks up automatically every time I get in to my truck through a Motorola dongle.
In my Ranger (sync 3), when a text message is received, I'm asked if I want it read aloud and then asked if I would like to reply. In my Maverick, all I get is a tone letting me know that a text is received, but am not given the option of it being read aloud; I have to pick up my phone to read and answer the text. My question is: do a have something in settings wrong in my truck or something set wrong in my phone ?

my experience with the Sync3 in my 23 Hybrid Lariat upon receipt of a text message presents a screen on the main display with 3 choices: read; listen and ignore.no voice prompts so far. i've only had Mabel the Maverick since late April so i still have a lot to learn myself. the is the 1st vehicle i've ever owned with 'built in Android Auto" and i have yet to dig too deep into it, am i missing out on something really cool here?

I have an xlt with an iphone and only connected Bluetooth (no cables) and does allow for me to hear or answer any texts or calls just fine.

I could be wrong, but I believe in Android you have to go into your phone and activate Android carplay, not sure about that name but it's some similar setting, in order for it to fully interact with your vehicle.

Well one replier ShadowChas said his iPhone can do it like my android can on my current car (ecosport) with sync 3 via Bluetooth. So it sounds like unless you have sync 3 which I believe only can get on Lariat no it wont work with android at least via blueooth . I guess Iphone it does via Bluetooth which seams strange. .

Edit talking about TEXT message only. Voice of course works over bluetooth.

Not sure if I understanding all correctly, but I can send and receive text messages and make phone calls WITHOUT my iphone being connected to the usb ports, mine has the sync3
