Hi all,

Just received a check in the mail for $264.00 from my dealership which sold me my maverick and the stub simply says "price protection" followed by the last 8 characters of my mav vin! That's what I call solid customer service by Ford and Bill Brown Ford in Livonia Michigan!!😉

Great News. I know a few dealers say they will send a check rather than decrease the cost. Or screw you altogether. This is the first I heard of that did. May I ask how long did it take?

Picked up the mav on 8-8-22, check was cut on 10-7-22 and arrived in mail on 10-17-22. Never inquired on price protection and was very pleasantly surprised to receive the check😁

We've purchased several Ford's from Bill Brown and have (2) 2023 Mav's on order with them. We've always had a fantastic experience with them.

I am happy for you. Only negative is that you paid the sales tax on that amount when you bought the truck versus having the dealer reduce the sales price by that amount and saving you that couple bucks. I am sure it is something like $20 difference though, so not a big deal. But just putting it out there.

Congrats on getting the check in the mail. When you signed all the paperwork did you sign a form that looks like this? If you did was "Incentive B" filled in?

My Lariat Luxury package price increased $1,850 since my order last October. The dealer waived the increase and I paid exactly what I agreed to. The sales tax on that amount would have been significant.

My dealer said that requires a program number and none exists for price protection. I know they are trying to pocket the difference.

I hear ya👍 I'd generally see that angle too and also the added interest I'm paying over my loan term! In retrospect, I was overjoyed (and still am!) with getting a 22 EB mav which in my mind is theoretically the best vehicle on the planet. And for Z Plan pricing and a great low locked in interest rate to boot! So I'd be ok losing out on a few hundred bucks in price increases, interest, etc. And believe me... I'm so much more a financial Marlin than a Dory it's unbelievable😂

That's doesn't look familiar and that would have elicited a few questions so I don't think so.

Because price protection isn't a rebate program.

That form is for incentives, not price protection. Its purpose is to instruct Ford how you want to receive your rebates.

Price protection is not a rebate, and it's not for you. Price protection is for the dealer. It's a credit to the dealer's payment statement for the difference between the final and initial invoice prices. This is Ford's way of charging the dealer the initial amount. You and the dealer were supposed to have an agreed price in writing up-front, and the dealer is supposed to honor that. Price protection isn't supposed to matter to you if you're buying it based on MSRP. The whole point is the dealer's price is unchanged so they can honor what they agreed to sell it to you for.

The only instance in which it's even logical to suggest price protection as a check once the dealer receives it is in OP's case. That's because it was a special program from Ford based on the invoice price the dealer pays. Basically, the dealer sells the vehicle at approximately cost, and Ford pays them a commission. Z-Plan is for Ford Motor Company retirees and their direct relatives. Under that program, the dealer is allowed to charge the new Z-Plan price (based on the higher invoice) up-front, and refund the difference when they receive it.

Some dealers will honor the original Plan price upfront instead; Ford's documentation says they're allowed to do it either way. The program requires the dealer and customer to fill out a form that provides full transparency into the rules and pricing. It has a space where the dealer indicates if the original price is honored upfront or how much will be provided once it's credited to the dealer.

That's doesn't look familiar and that would have elicited a few questions so I don't think so.
Because my Escape had a total of $2800 in incentives on it, I received that form. It shows that the rebates were to be distributed to the dealer to apply toward the vehicle purchase price, instead of being sent to me as a check.

It does not list the 1.9%/60 mo Ford Credit financing. It does not list price protection.

I agree with you and Darnon, was directing that to the person that asked if they filled out that form.

*edit - I also was grasping at straws searching MTC when in the dealer to convince them to apply the price protection, which is why I brought this up in the first place.
