The PCM update recalls affect several major models. The most notable actions include: []

1. 2026 Transmission Rollaway Recall (Campaign 26V237 / 26E04)

• Vehicles Affected: Over 741,000 vehicles, including various models like the 2025-2026 Maverick, F-150, and other Ford/Lincoln SUVs.
• The Issue: The PCM calibration can cause a delay in detecting certain faults, potentially causing the transmission to engage in a way that allows the vehicle to roll away while in "Park".
• The Remedy: Dealers will update the PCM software and inspect/replace any damaged transmission components for free. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

2. Sudden Downshift Recall (Transport Canada 2026189 / NHTSA equivalents)

• Vehicles Affected: Certain trucks equipped with 6-speed transmissions.
• The Issue: A software problem can suddenly downshift the transmission into second gear, leading to a loss of control.
• The Remedy: Dealers will reflash and update the PCM software so the computer responds safely to signal issues. [1, 2]

My 25 Lariat Hybrid was on the list for needing this recall. I went to the dealer site and made an appointment to get it fixed. Then I got an email from Carfax that let me know that the fix is not yet available. Guess I'll be getting a call from the dealer apologizing for the delay. Don't waste your time doing what I did. Just sit tight.

Its a temporary hold for non hybrids.

Wow - so is that the newly hired programmers or the last of the AI programmers - that made a requirement for a hybrid module in non-hybrid systems.
Good grief.

If the list of modules that the programmer can run thru and check off as required - doesn't state if hybrid or EB only - then what a crazy environment to have to work within.

Totally agree, this is what happens when you lay off all your experienced people, then have to hire newbies to replace them three years later when your experiment fails. It likely doesn’t help that most of these types of fixes are often rushed to keep costs down.

According to my dealer, the 26E04 recall is limited to trucks within a specific build date range.
If it doesn't show up on the Ford or NHTSA website already, your vehicle is not affected.
Mine isn't with a build date in November 2025.

I just checked my Ford app and I have this recall showing for my 25 Hybrid... I wonder if this is the AWD update for the 25 Hybrids. Ford did say they would be pushing an update out to make it act the same as the 26 AWD system.

No recall listed on the app for my MY25 XL Hybrid AWD with 4K towing, YET................................
