FACT: saying it's so doesn't make it fact nor does pics of vehicles retrofitted to fit on a train track. Let's see your sources that have the indisputable data to make this fact. Historical records, plans, patents etc. Otherwise, youre just another blow hard. Prove me wrong.
Any manufactured item that requires transport must be sized to fit the constraints of the transportation system it uses. To economically ship a large rocket across the country, the railroad was the only viable cost effective method.

If railroads were twice as wide, the shuttle's SRBs could have been much larger, but they didn't need to be, because they were designed to provide specific lift requirements.
That doesn't mean they were designed without regard to how they could be transported, because that was part of the original design criteria.

Railroads have a close similarity with a typical wagon footprint, although it varied.
Unless there is a compelling reason to change something, people have a habit of doing things the way they were done before. Nearly all multiple horse drawn vehicles were two horses wide.

The Stockton and Darlington Railway was the first rail line built built with a standard gauge track width of 4 feet 8.5 inches, and that is the same standard used today.
George Stephenson, the creator of that railroad design, based the gauge on the width of wagon wheels in use at the time. Based on their propulsion, that didn't change much from the time of the Romans.

This thread has gotten real weird and I can't even tell what we're arguing about at this point, but I really do want a follow-up on the rear-facing snow plow. Now that winter is over, how did it go? Did the Maverick survive?

I agree, the thread was out right high jacked talking/arguing about a completely different topic than the OP posted about. It's ridiculous imo

@OleFordGuy Hey it's gonna happen when I see a narrative posted as fact with no attribution or ability to prove that what they say isnt just plain bullshit. But that's life now. Don't believe what some rando claims with passion is fact. You have to fact check this stuff and it gets old. Easily disproven or proven.

My point was the thread was about snow plows and all of a sudden it becomes roman chariat's, space shuttles, server rackets and railroads. I see no relation so why is one compelled to post irrelevant subject matter not remotely related to the original subject. I'm not mad, it just doesn't make sense to me 🤷‍♂️

I jumped from the OP to page 10 because I didn’t want to wade through 9 pages of BS and I’m glad I did. What you describe is a modern day chat board version of the children’s game of “Telephone”

That said, I’m curious to know this rear-mounted snow plow worked out.

yeah? well, my AI's ass can kick your AI's ass.
Nah. Your AI only draws its backside with three cheeks, while his hallucinates a 4th!

Prove me wrong.
Unless you're accusing the picture of being a fake, the fact that the truck's front truck wheels are over the track, as are its inner rear wheels, is a good start. And then add that the train wheels up front are directly in front of the front tires . . .
