Hi guys looking for help.
Got rear ended yesterday, felt like a really big hit but didnt look that bad at the car. Searching for frame damage because of the toe hitch i look under and this is what it looks like. I have seen some worst photos over here but i dont know what insurance could considere a substantial damage to the frame. Any advice will be appreciated

Even unibodies still have structural framing elements. And on modern vehicles those areas are often high-strength steel that is nigh unrepairable if it hasn't been designed to be sectioned for replacement; can't weld or pull it without potentially compromising its strength.

Like I said, there's no frame.

There are side rails on the Mavericks which are the structural part of the beds. Yours look kinked. If they are kinked they need to be replaced.

Most of the comments about damage to those rails are about insurance not fixing it but declaring total loss
I dont know where to sit on this, today we check the mav and there was substantial damage to several structures down there, including those rails.

Ford uses a lot of boron steel.
Working with Boron Steel - Body Shop Business article.
Once bent, it can't be straightened. It requires replacement if damaged. It's sensitive to heat and rapidly weakens if heated.
What car manufacturers use boron steel?

The leading car manufacturer, Ford, uses boron and other ultra-high-strength lightweight steels. They are used in applications in different structural parts on their existing models, including Ford Taurus, Transit Connect, Flex, Mustang, F150, and Focus, as well as in Lincoln MKS....

I wouldn't be surprised if it's totaled.

Questionable , on totaled , if so buy it back and quick fix and run it. That less than 1/4” buckle will not compromise a 20 mph additional hit in the rear or a 60 mph hit in the rear , would only change the overall additional crush by maybe a 1/2” or so from a stock one.
if you Have to have a clean title , by a new one , but it’s not much different than grandpa‘s old 74’ f100:getting bent a little on one frame rail by the bumper and having a wrinkled tailgate and then using it for the next 30 years still.they just never reported it and everyones insurance stayed cheap during that generation. Unfortunately that isn’t the case anymore , and everybody wants a show car for the first 6 years they own their vehicle So all out on the insurance claims and repainting expecting that show car.
purely your choice and a body shop will dig and dig if they need work or feel you want that show car in the end.

An update on my truck.
Today it was evaluated again by the insurance company, and they are still gathering information to determine whether it’s a total loss or if it can be repaired. Next week, they are taking it to an official Ford shop to determine if those bend rail frames are repairable, but what worries me is whether they are really going to straighten those rails and leave me with a damaged truck that has less structural integrity. I would prefer they declare it a total loss rather than attempt a repair. I don’t know how I can defend my preference. Any advice would be appreciated.

Here is the "frame".
Just because it can be fixed does not justify fixing it.
Replace your Maverick with a new one.

It's not my decision whether to buy a new one or not. It's the company that has to decide. If the cost of repair is lower, they will try to straighten the frame. My question is how I could appeal this decision. Is there any way to get information from Ford regarding the damage to this structure? Recommendations or potential consequences so that I can appeal a decision to repair. I don't want to have a new truck with that level of damage, and for some workshop to tell me, 'yes, it's repairable.'"

Ford uses a lot of Boron Steel.
If the part that has been bent, is high strength Boron Steel. Find out how they intend to straighten it.
From what I have read and posted here. Heating it is not an option.
They may get it straight, but how brittle will it be????
Good luck.

I don't believe they can be straightened. High-strength steel can't be heated or bent without compromising the strength of the steel. It's one of the reasons that Volvo will not sell structural body parts to a body shop unless they're approved by Volvo. I don't know about Ford, but it may be the same. I am unable to order the part for my shop from Ford.
