Random double horn honk existing truck

Yeah I think when I have that issue I have been hitting the lock button with the
keys still inside - just my two cents.

I've had the double honk experience if the vehicle was still on and the keys were in my pocket OR if a door wasn't closed completely and I tried to lock it. Sounds like you made sure these situations weren't present. The only other cause, other than a wacko electrical system, would be if you had an extra set of keys in the truck.

We got another Maverick hybrid at work (we have 2 XLs). Today was our 1st day using it and out of the dozens of times I got out of the passenger door I got a random double honk. Driver door wasn't touched. When it happened we were at a site where we had a dozen or so stops - driver stopped & I hopped out, did the thing, and got back in.

1 random double honk.

My partner/driver was somewhat surprised and asked WTF was that... I said it apparently is just a "Maverick thing"

25 XLT has keyless entry now, but XL does not - right?

One situation the double-honks are used is when lock all is done - door or fob, but the fob is still seen as inside the cabin. For keyless entry systems.
And all the doors should unlock then.

Do you hear all the doors unlock?

If not - may be related to other double-honk reasons, and their own sensors.

Or, back to just plain computer goofiness.

22 Poverty model, happens to me about once a month at random. When I park in the garage, the key's left in the ignition nearly every time. Last time was a few days ago with the key in my hand as I opened the door.

The truck was running when it happened. Passenger door was the only door to open when the honk-honk thing happened. I got in and out of teh running truck a *lot* that day and it only happened one time. Opening only the passenger door does not unlock all the doors.

Happened again today but I wasn't paying attention so I don't know what the scenario was.

Today we also had a new weird and random thing that involved beeping when in reverse. Not the usual back up beep that always happens but a different one but again for this I was busy doing paperwork pre- or post- job and can't explain the scenario.

Looking forward to next week's adventures in randomness. haha.

My hybrid will double honk if I leave it running and I step away still in possession of my keys. Sounds like that is what happened in the scenario you described.

The driver remained in the driver seat, the truck was running.

I did *ALL* the getting out and back in for the job we were at when it happened the 1st time.

We only had one key with us - company policy to leave the spare at the shop in a drawer in the office.

Thanks for clarifying. Looks like you got yourself a mystery. I'm all out of suggestions, but do let us know when you get this solved. Good luck

I was about to start a thread on this issue but found this new one instead. Wish we had a list of what qualifications create a double honk reaction in the logic.

Let me say that forscan should be able to disable all double honks. So far, just been to lazy to mess with it. Still putting up with the double honk on my Bronco after three years, I leave it running a lot and have the fob in my pocket. Least I know what causes it on the Bronco.

With my Mav it happens after I drive to my work rental place, usually later on a sunday night and I'm parked right by the next RV over. Really hate to disturb them. I really can't figure out what is causing it. Key is out, trans in park, lights in auto....and it still does it, sometimes, when I open the door. I usually don't use the parking brake. First few times I assumed I forgot a step and the truck did not like it, then last few times I go through the inventory list and can't see what causes it. Maybe I'm doing all of this to fast?!

I'm a creature of habit. To the point I believe I'm an undocumented spectrum spot occupier.

My double-honk issue in both my personal MY25 XLT and my work MY26 XL are completely random. One has a key, one does not. Both are driven as close to exactly the same way as is possible for a human to do in 2 different trucks in different environments.

Same results, at random.

Well, I tried AI, the answer is not 100% worded right but it does support my theory. We may be opening the door to quickly after putting in "park".

I get this on my XLT with a key ignition, so the car is definitely stopped. And always in park. It always decides to honk when there is some mother with a small child near the vehicle - just being obnoxious I guess. Totally random. Once or twice a month.
