hey guys, new here. I bought a 2024 maverick a month ago and it has what I believe to be the factory plastic bed liner. it does say ford on it so I can only assume factory unless some aftermarket company paid for the licensing??

anyway. I bought a retractable tonneau cover for the bed off ebay. this specific one:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/365950188294

after looking at their "video" on the listing it shows them popping some plugs out of the bed cover to run the drains. I see no such drains anywhere in my bed liner.

I looked online and found a reddit post that I "think" shows me where they are? here:

so it appears I need to manually drill holes in the bed liner after I take off the sides and pop the factory drain hole plugs out?

my main question is how do I get the sides off? to I just pull the strap points off and the side will just sorta slip out or something?

The OEM bedliner is installed in pieces. I would just remove it and do what you need to do and reinstall. I have the OEM spray in liner.

I have the same liner in my ‘23. Just leave it the way it is. Dont chance drilling holes in the plastic and hitting the metal bed. It’s not that serious. It’s a truck bed, it’s gonna get dirty and wet.

Here is a picture of where the drain plugs are. Tomorrow I will get a measurement if I remember, what was I saying 🤣

If you zoom in you can see the drain hose in the plug. I would remove your drop in as suggested and measure the hole location and drill just a large enough for the hose. I will warn you there is going to be water getting in the bed unless you do a thorough seal of the bulkhead. Here is my thread on doing it with a link to the video from @Realtruck .

I have the same OEM drop in bedliner I removed the plastic push pins from the fender well liners and drilled through the grommet hole through the OEM bedliner. That is you're easiest route without having to remove the drop in bedliner side panels, and all the bolts holding it in place.

the plastic push pins? all I'm seeing are the metal tie strap hooks?

No on the fender well liners to drop that down to gain access. That way you can see the drain plug itself. Versus taking apart your drop in bedliner and messing with it that way which would be more of a pain in the butt than anything.

oh holy crap this is the way. my eyes are open now. yes. this is what I'm going to do. I will just pop the plug out and use one of my electrical auger bits that are like 12" long and drill through bed liner.

I think that is where you are going with this idea???

I have the same Ford bed liner. Is there a better choice for a tonneau cover that doesn’t compromise the bed liner? If not, it stays the way it is.

Any cover that does not have drain hoses. Soft covers or hard tri-fold that sits on top of the rails. Low profiles and retractables have drain hoses.

With some exceptions... Lomax/Weathertech is low profile and doesn't have drain hoses.
