I have read many articles and forums saying how important it is to treat the undercarriage against future corrosion.
I have been a mechanic over 50 years of my life but this morning after installing the mud flaps on my maverick I had one more confirmation that there are more and more things that I can no longer do.
Having someone paid to do that treatment is very expensive and I am not in control of the work quality and I understand needs to be done every year of just about.

I would like those who have a Maverick for several years and never did any kind of carriage treatment to look under and to let us know bad, if any , the rust issue is. In addition Ford has an no-corrosion warranty
Thank you

I was fortunate in having a friend who runs a repair shop to do the work for me. A lift is a must to remove plastic fender well liners, running board plastic and various heat shields and skid plates. It was a two day job done over the weekend. Woolwax Black was the weapon of choice and it offers great corrosion protection over the long term. There is also a version for high abrasion areas but we did not do that, preferring to do annual touchups in those areas.

It's really a decision each individual needs to make for themselves. How long do you plan on keeping your truck? Most folks on average go 5 years or so. I do not believe there will be much corrosion or any rust perforation in that length of time. I'm not sure how long I will keep my Maverick after the 5 year period but it was my OCD that made these decisions for me.

The maverick hasn't been out for " several" years lol. I don't worry about corrosion. I live in michigan, keep my vehicles 15 years or more, when they rust out to a point they are unsafe, which hasn't happened since vehicles from the 80,s ...I get a different one. My ram and caravan are both 15 years old, rust is not an issue yet.

Why do you say: "Ford has a no-corrosion warranty"? While this may not be ideal, there is a warranty:

According to Ford's current warranty information, the 2025 model year corrosion warranty covers body sheet metal panels against corrosion due to manufacturing defects for 5 years with unlimited mileage, with specific details depending on whether the corrosion results in perforation (holes) or not; essentially, if there are no holes, the coverage may be limited to the standard New Vehicle Limited Warranty period of 3 years/36,000 miles depending on the situation.

Humm we are on the fourth model year now, sounds like several years to me. 😉
Thank you . Probably all the electronic will fall apart and be totally obsolete before we get any hole due to corrosion.

Had mine since oct 2021 so it has gone through a few winters in Maine which is HORRENDOUS on vehicle as we put more salt and sprays on our roads then alot of places. I had mine coated by line-x and have 0 spots under it or anywhere else that i have been able to find as of last week when I put it on the lift to check it out before inspection. I can say how well they do without a undercoating but mine has done pretty well considering I live on a main road and it is constantly getting sprayed by passing trucks and traffic by whatever is on the road. I do wash my truck at the min of bi-weekly but I try to do it weekly which helps.
