I was very impressed with how nice the factory spark plugs were when I pulled to observe them today at just over 43k miles. I read through other forums about spark plugs and saw the wear. Checked today and I was very impressed with how good of shape they were in. Loving my Mav after 43k!

Iridium’s I presume ?

I pulled one out of my 2013 F-150 when it was two years old with 167,000 miles on it.
It looked fine and pretty much like the plug above.
I changed them on principal and noticed no change in Mpg’s or any other performance variable.

You ever heard the saying... Looks isn't everything? LOL
A plug can look fine to the naked eye, but its electrical characteristics may be degraded. All the heat and sparking over time can change how well the plug works, reducing mileage, the ability to generate a nice spark, etc.

Just because of the mileage, two months ago I changed the spark plugs in my wife's 2016 Ford Escape naturally aspirated 2.5 l with 80,000 miles on it.
I don't think they look too bad.
I expect the plugs in my Maverick hybrid to last at least 80,000 miles

Is it a big chore to change plugs on a 24 Eco? I’m used to changing plugs on V-8s in 75-78 GMC Jimmy’s or same in Chev Blazers where you could crawl inside the engine bay to do it . 80 Camaro is easy also! Getting old, miss those days. 🫩

It's one of the first things I looked at , and it doesn't look too bad, a few things to get out of the way but nothing major. By the sounds of it you're no stranger to getting your hands a little dirty so you should be fine. Before I actually do it I'll check youtube and see who's actually done it, to see if there are going to be any surprises.

Yes, the Maverick, like most modern vehicles sold today use Iridium plugs. They should last at least 100k miles, unless the engine has issues like fuel disillusion or coolant leaks.
I've heard of folks leaving them in well in excess of 100K miles with no issues. Mine have always looked fine at 100K. PSA - There are lots of fake spark plugs on Amazon and eBay.

I changed out my plugs on my 2005 Escape Hybrid at 100,000 miles out of principle too. No issues. Got rid of the Escape at nearly 250,000 miles. Never changed the second set. No need to.

I think the wires, if anything will degrade sooner. So long ago I don't remember if/when I changed the wires. I probably did 1 time also. It was either once or never.

If it ain't broke....

Forgot to mention people that the forums I was on before I bought my Mav, (Chev, Dodge, American made, said that coppers are the best plugs, never iridium’s. But times have changed since then, Engines in the 70’s-80’s were so much easier to work on, in my opinion. Now I just take it to the dealer and say ‘do you know what’s wrong? Fix it please, Thank-you’. (I have a good dealer and techs, lucky I guess.)
