Prevent exterior lights when door opened?

Has anyone found a way to prevent exterior lights from coming on when a door is opened, WITHOUT also disabling the interior (dome) light?

It's not super convenient, but you have to immediately after opening the door, switch the headlight switch to "off", and hit the cargo light button.

Yes that works for the exterior lights, but then I have no interior lights at all.

...and I guess that's the only option. I think I'll remove the bulbs from the cargo light. I just wish the people who design this stuff would actually use it...
