Super helpful. Thank you. You can see that Ford has reached out to me. Perhaps they know more now.
Ford asked for a message. I don't know if they will follow up on the post to get your information. Best to message them via the private message system here. Click on their avatar and then click "start a conversation".

mine did the same thing yesterday while driving in rain through the mountains near Asheville….stop at rest area and checked bumper sensor and windshield for blockages and found nothing….got back on road and it’s worked so far….vehicle has less than 1000 miles…23 hybrid…..don’t think you’re being overdramatic….when you depend so much on cruise control without it you’ll look down and be going 85 and then again be going 65….3rd world problems I know but I paid for that option to work all the time!
The manual says it may not work correctly in bad weather conditions. These safety systems aren't absolute or without limitations. It can't see alll vehicles depending where they are in the lane. None of these safety systems work all the time. Just ask the dead Tesla drivers.

Sorry, but working… then not working …then working on a clear sunny day without a vehicle in front? Or lighting up like Armageddon when stopped at a light with a Camry in front of me? It is June in Illinois…no ice, no rain, and a clean windshield.

working perfectly for first 3000 miles, then mostly not at all. Then “aligned” and working until 8000 miles, now intermittent functionality. Read original post.

very true - slush, ice build up, rain so hard driver can’t see….but when those are cleared i expect the adaptive cruise to work…

the experts will correct me if wrong but I thought the radar box in the lower grill was for ACC.
don't know what the dealer was talking about, maybe he doesn't either.
The radar sensor is built in to the CCM which is what detects objects such as vehicles in front of you for the adaptive cruise control system to control the space between you and other vehicles. The camera is used for lane keeping( by seeing the lines on the road, or as more common here in Illinois where North1250 and I live , not seeing them because they are not there..)) and for collision alert by seeing something like a child or pedestrian, another vehicle, etc." jump" out in front of you. So yes, you are correct, the "box" in the grill is the Adaptive cruise control( hence the " ACC" on the box)module which has the radar sensor in it,

Can you please send over a message with your VIN and the name & location of your local Ford dealer? I would like to take a closer look into your pre-collision/cruise control concerns.

They likely aren't seeing this. Did you send them a PM?

i would check the connector itself behind the grill for the CCM. It is most likely corroded specially if you use touch less car washes frequently. I’ve already replaced mine at 34k. Water made its way down the jacket too.

Anyone else? The system worked flawlessly for the first 3000 miles. And then stopped abruptly in the middle of a drive. Stopping the car and restarting restores functionality… Sometimes. Took it to the dealer and they “aligned the sensor“ and then it worked again until about 8000 miles It is very glitchy. Sometimes will start to work if I turn off cruise control and then reset. But it will stop after five or 10 minutes again. The dealer keeps telling me to wash my windshield. The car is showroom clean in all situations. To use cruise control then I have to go to settings and select normal. I drive a lot at highway speeds, and the system is going to kill me if it stops working.

Brand new here and I have the same issue with the ACC and pre collision. I only have 70 miles total and this is already an issue. Everything is clean and clear drove it 30 miles works great. Stopped twice at stores and now it doesn't work again. I got my finger in back of the front cover for the ACC and I feel something moving. But sure if it's the unit or wiring. Thanks for listening.

I have had it at the dealer now three times, and they are going to replace the cruise control module. Will let you know if that works. My dealer is Weber Ford in Granite City IL. Service manager is Rob Smith.

So, if anybody still cares everybody was wrong. To be clear, this failed at 3000 miles and again at 8000 miles after being fixed… all of my driving has been in spring and summer clear weather and the system would simply crap out.

Now at 15,000 miles I have been driving with a system that has worked only for 10 to 15 minutes after I start up, After four visits, they finally replaced the cruise control module, and a BROKEN BRACKET that I think was damaged during production.

Do yourself and fellow drivers a favor. If your wipers are on turn your cruise control off.
