Hi I’m having the same powertrain loss of power issue with my ‘22 Hybrid Lariat, happened to me 3/9 while driving…

I believe it all started with the Deep Sleep mode instantly after car turns off no matter how far I drive for the last 6 months. Noticed this deep sleep mode ever since the airbag recall over the summer…. I brought the car to dealer several times, the battery issues only got worse after every recall and reprogram attempt…

now with 16,000 miles all of sudden lost power middle of driving, all lights went off in the dash (video below)… warning 1st gear disengaged, and in gas mode it could barely go at stop and uphill, and in electric mode the car would accelerate without pressing the gas pedal!! VERY DANGEROUS! Towed car to dealer in Stamford CT… Called ford corporate for buyback program… truck still at dealer they don’t know what’s going on for over a week, they say everything is normal even with video evidence . Ford has been zero help.

The dealer are refusing to replace the battery to try and attempt to fix this. It’s really bad. I just want out of this Maverick… what’s going to happen when it’s 3 years old with 25,000 miles?

Got this message today. "powertrain malfunction" I had the trailer module reprogrammed a couple of weeks ago. 2.0L AWD The little wrench on the dash came on.
I ran a scan and came up with this. See attached. I'm thinking those are the codes that got activated when they reprogrammed the trailer module.
I just got the same notification about an hour ago. I have no tow package and have not done the recent signal(?) recall either. It was just in for an oil change and inspection (“the works” they call it) about 10 days ago also.
I’m hoping to contact my dealer in the morning and get it looked at asap.

I have the same issues as everyone else. Truck currently at dealer. They are replacing the “drive motor inverter”. I think this is the control module. Waiting a couple of days for parts. We will see if this solves the problems…

The 12 volt battery. They knew the problem from the 3 idiot lights that were on can't remember which. They Tested the battery - which took several hours! - and it failed. Apparently a known problem. It was curious when the problem occurred. Suddenly no power. No warning. I pulled over and checked. Of course I had no idea. Motor still running so I tried to drive. It would go up to 40mph on it's own but the gas pedal had no effect. I called it a psychotic episode

One interesting thing. When I called ford road service, they could read the errors and warnings on my car.

This is EXACTLY what happened to me.. did you also have persistent Deep Sleep Mode warnings after every drive to your ford pass app the last several months? Causing no cabin lights to turn on at night when getting into your car, no intelligent access on passenger side?

The dealership asked me if I had jump started recently. I did once a few months back. I guess I had the deep sleep. Truck was deader than any vehicle I ever encountered - nothing. As soon as I touched the jumper cables it started right up. Cross fingers and knock on wood - new battery solved it.

I’m reading about people getting an update at the dealership that fixes this problem. I hope that is the case with me. I don’t have 10k miles yet, 😢
I don't even have 2000 miles on mine and it was acting up for the second time not too happy about it had to have it towed two times to the dealership did not even offer me a rent a car

On top of the loss of power and all electrical cluster outages, Power steering gone, parking brake stays engaged…. We will see what happens, and what Ford Corp decides to do to address this issue. 18,000 miles shouldn’t have castrophic failure twice …

An update, the loss of power happened again yesterday.. brought the truck in and the dealer pulled x11 codes! On top of the loss of power and all electrical cluster outages, Power steering gone, parking brake stays engaged…. We will see what happens, and what Ford Corp decides to do to address this issue. 18,000 miles shouldn’t have castrophic failure twice …

You mentioned being aware of the recall coming mid-May. Did you get yours reprogrammed under that campaign or not?

I was supposed to bring it last week for the PCM and BCM reprogram recalls, missed the appt… now it is in to check everything and do the recalls… we will see

Hybrids in particular are VERY sensitive to low voltage on the 12v side.

The vast majority of errors and codes come from 12v system dropping below 12 volts.

To add insult to injury, since they are "economy" trucks we got "economy" batteries.

Bigger, better, 12v battery will solve 99% of errors.

The dealer did that already replacing with better battery.. this seems like a communication issue between the gas engine to the electric engine
