Well it's happened to me with my 23 XLT Hybrid with less than 12K miles.

Driving home around 65 and the dash went crazy. Pulled over, turned the truck off, and waited a little while. I then turned the truck back on and it drove home fine, but the CEL remained on. I also recently had the turn signal recall done a few weeks ago. I haven't done the instrument cluster recall.

Thankfully no one was behind us when this happened!

Hi Jared! I can look into your maverick's reduced power concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your maverick's VIN?

My maverick went into my local dealership after the exact symptoms described and they performed updates but my confidence in this vehicle is fairly shaken.

This just happened to me today for the second time. 22' Maverick Hybrid; luckily enough it happend in the parking lot and was able to stop safely. First time it happened as soon as I left my driveway. Ford had it for 2 days while they tried to fix the problem. Funny thing is it drove fine to the dealer, just had a check engine light on.

First time dealer reprogrammed the BCE module and power steering control module and stated it was fixed. I'm so bummed I have to take it in again. Luckily it only happened in the parking lot and not somewhere dangerous as I have read happened to others. I'm done with this truck; once they "fix" it I'm getting rid of it...

Had my recall #5 on my 2022 Maverick. About a week later, I lose power, the "D" in the gear shift is blinking, check engine light on, a "gear light" on the dash board is on, along with other lights, warning displays of service AdvanceTrac, Pre-collision assist not available and Hill assist not available. I pull over, let my foot off the break and it starts accelerating to 25 mph on it's own. I turn it off, wait a minute then notice only the check engine light is on. 2 Weeks wait to get my vehicle looked at. Sigh :(

There has to be a problem in how these updates are loaded either it is missing some critical settings or the patching process flawed. Those of us who had our trucks built after the recall have not been having the reduced power problem but our trucks must have the updated code and settings?

So I had the same issues. First time I took it in they could not find anything wrong. Second time they replaced the GSM. Third time replaced GSM again that was bad from stock. I have not had any issues since then.

I suspect the more you update, the more room for errors. Fresh built trucks I assume are loaded with what you would call the latest "full" software. Ones in market get patches / updates to whatever they have.

There have been a ton of rumors as to which update caused the issue but two most recent ones were the instrument panel illumination and turn signal. Then I keep hearing some PCM update which is something separate and was appearantly stopped due to some bugs (yet all is just rumors without anything written that I have seen)

Too many topics on this and I wish we could start fresh and have owners report year / milage and after what dealer service the issue started (most will likely have the turn signal and illumination done together so that complicated things,;but it's a start)

....and dealers seems clueless on the issue but like some have said, a fix exists according to some tech notes.

Regardless, expect a NHTSA investigation on this if no recall is issued soon (the latest Power may be reduced recall IS NOT IT)

This issue happened to my 2023 maverick hybrid lariat. I get warnings on my dash and fordpas app for "powertrain failure/reduced power". I had the updates completed separately. The issue didn't appear after the signal light update. My recent update was for the instrument cluster, and now I get this CEL issue and the warning on the app daily. I have a scheduled visit Tuesday for the same dealership (Freedom Ford in Wise VA) where I have been getting all updates.

Got the "Power train Malfunction/Reduced Power" warning yesterday on the Pa Turnpike. Had been driving for about 3 hours, but didn't notice anything except the "Wrench" on the dash. Thankfully didn't slow down from 75 to 20. Drove another 2 hours without an issue. Today, started right up, "Wrench" is gone. I guess I'll call Ford tomorrow.

The thing I found about this happening is sometimes it can be something temporary with one of the sensors or monitors that can trip this condition that resets upon a shut down and restart. I was once accelerating hard while turning through a snowy meridian and one or both of the driver side tires (AWD) slipped and it caused my SUV to drop into low power mode. I limped it home and immediately tried shutting it off and restarting it, the error cleared and never returned.

You will waste your time calling the dealer on a one time event that has already cleared.

These are computers with 4 wheels.
Sometimes a reboot is all they need.

Only worry if things persist.
