Was the truck pulling against you when the engine revved up? Or was it operating normally with just higher than normal RPM?
It wasn’t pulling against me. I still had my foot mostly on the brake as I was easing out of the pump, never felt it try to accelerate from under me. It’s possible it would have but I can’t know since I never had my foot completely off the brake.

However, right when I stopped the car and switched back to park and then neutral, I could feel the car shudder a bit - could also feel this slightly through my foot on the brake pedal. The shuddering happened after the revving stopped, not during. Never felt the car shudder like this either. It wasn’t violently shaking but still worth noting. I think I felt 3 quick shudders while switching between gears. After I felt no more shuddering that’s when I took my foot completely off the brake and coasted off. Drove down a couple yards and tried to replicate again, shifting into reverse now too, but it didn’t and the car seemed fine. Drove 45 mins home at 50mph no problem

If it wasn’t pulling any more strongly, I suspect it was just a fluke. Possibly a weird variation that occurred as the engine was in the zone between cold and warm.. If it had been pulling strongly against you requiring more brake pedal effort, I would be more concerned. But since it didn’t seem to be pulling any more forcefully, I probably wouldn’t be concernEd

hey yall, just had a look through this thread. This issue just happened to me for the first time. 24 XL hybrid 57k miles. Just finished filling up with gas and was about to drive off when the engine started revving. Put the car in park and switched to neutral and drive again to try and replicate but it didn’t do it again. I had a feeling it was related to the colder temps. I’m in SC and it’s around 28° tonight and the car just sat under an inch of snow and ice in the driveway. Heater was indeed on so the explanation makes sense. Just caught me off guard.

Dashcam vid for anyone interested
Glad you got in on the dashcam, it's exactly what ours does. Puts the lie to the "it's normal hybrid operation" theory.

Similar scenario, cool temps., relatively short stop. As Darryl mentions it seems to be related to engine temp. at start up as well. My guess would be another parameter is near the edge of its range too, likely traction battery state of charge.

Cheers.
