Seems the Hybrid stop/start can start with your foot still on the brake at a stoplight. Crazy.
huh? is this not normal hybrid operation? in my prius, if im at a stoplight and the battery is low the engine turns on by itself to charge the battery without me moving my foot off the brakes.

Edit: also while in drive and stopped in my prius the ice engine can rev as much as it wants but no power gets transferred to wheels, just charges battery or for cabin heat. I wish the mav had a screen like the Prius to see battery charge state and power flow from ice

Do you remote start your truck in winter and let it warm up for 5-10 minutes before leaving? If so, you won’t experience this.
Once just to try it. but not normally. So no. NEVER has RPM gone super high say past maybe 1500 rpm. BUT 1500 rpm is higher than normal . Maybe OP doesn't know the difference. If wrong I apologize to OP. I can even plug into OBD port and use ap I have to see exact RPM if people want to see proper operation RPM when cold. Supposed to be 26F Thursday.

Yes, the EB stop/start will not start until you lift your foot off the brake.

Yes and no. The ICE turns off whenever the conditions are right. It will anlso turn on whenever needed. Even while driving. You clearly don’t understand hybrids. Might be worth while educating yourself on how they work. :)

Prius makes sense. It revs the ICE to charge battery & generate cabin heat - while not engaged to the power train. I would assume the Maverick Hybrid does the same.

The OP seems to be experiencing a dangerous anomaly - his Maverick will rev the ICE while standing still in Drive causing his truck to lurch forward!

IF the OP is correct on it is applying 100 percent throttle or going say 3000 rpm or even higher that is NOT NORMAL. Period. No way no how that high on my 2023 XLT Hybrid. Maybe 1500 rpm at most.
Slowly increasing to upwards of 2000 when very cold and more electric needed.

But ya - that still doesn't sound like full-throttle.

It doesn’t matter if it is full throttle or half throttle. It matters that it is enough throttle to cause a lurch forward with your foot on the brake.

It is an anomaly that only a couple folks on this thread have experienced. All were surprised. The folks who are saying “it is normal” are missing the point.

It can also start while coasting, run at the red light, and turn off just when the light turns green.
Just gotta love that timing!
More of a chance in the cold now.

Some errands during busy traffic and some routes with lots of stop lights - it feels like I have a glorified AS/S system.
Meaning I can at least start moving fast with the motor - but the ICE is kicking on no matter what due to the traffic speed and/or inclines.

The 2025 with about 15% max EV power allowed - would help out so much with that.
I'm glad the stats from my driving could be analyzed so that the 2025 hybrid could be improved.
They owe me something - at least some slack!

Yep - system problems controlling that generator motor would do that.

While prior winter I experienced some of the roughness idling in Neutral on initial cold starts - this year I've been feeling the non-smoothness while driving, ICE of course on due to cold, and the GM I'm guessing not nailing whatever RPM it should be.
About impossible to find that in the logs to confirm what it seems, besides not knowing what the RPM should be anyway.

I've been measuring transmission temps - it doesn't get very warm at all, and not fast at all.
The DCDC Convertor gets warmer faster!

I dunno, I’ve been on MTC for just over a year now and from the majority of posts with truck problems, it’s been hybrids. That’s just my opinion, let’s not all go off the handle please! I didn’t purchase my 24 EcoBoost turbo for 100 MPG, I bought it for a more fun, useful vehicle for my taste. As long as everyone loves their Mav, that’s all that matters.
X2!!

Yeah, thing is that it did go full bore, and that power was definitely transferred to the wheels. Luckily I was sitting on glare ice so the tires just spun really fast and the truck went nowhere. Had it been on dry ground I would have without question rammed into the car in front of me. I'm already lawyering up, because the "it might be a fluke" gamble isn't one I'm willing to take with an issue like this.

I definitely know the difference lol. By the sounds of it, the ICE was easily north of 4k. Beyond the fact that it's potentially dangerous, I also shut it off immediately because having a cold engine revving that high immediately after starting the car can't be good for the engine itself.

Maybe you should invest in an OBD data logger. Have it log engine RPM, Wheel Speed, TQ output, gear selection, and a few other things (probably temps). When you have a "full throttle" event compare the data with "normal operation".

If you have some real data Ford and lawyers will listen a lot better.

Just an idea. I work in the automotive testing field.

Any recommendations on a decent one that won't break the bank?
