go in good light, or have them park it in a bay with good lights. inspect very carefully.

do not buy it until you then inspect the repainted work. there are very good body shops that will do well. there are, unfortunately, some that will do this as cheap as possible and it may be noticeable.
There sister Ford dealership is the one that did the repaint. Just kind of sucks that I paid extra (well not yet) for the Ruby Red paint. Though I'm sure it's common for new vehicles coming off the shipping truck to get chips.

Update... It was damage causing the delay.... Sales Manger just called me. He said when they did the delivery inspection they noticed a deep chip in the paint. They needed to have that part repainted being that it's a new vehicle. He is going to find out where the chip was exactly and let me come down and take a look at it today when I get out of work.

I appreciate the update. I like the fact they are fixing it and not selling it to you with a "jeepers, we didn't see that paint chip," attitude. And then later when you noticed it try to blame you for doing it.

Going a few years ago my father purchased a Lincoln Town Car that came in with the roof having a paint damage from most likely a chain hold down that came loose from a vehicle above it on the car carrier. They ended up having him sign a letter disclosing the damage and giving him an extended warranty at no charge.

My 25 was delivered to my dealership on the 14th (week ago). I haven't heard from them so I emailed my sales person today for an update. He just emailed me back saying the sales manager will call me in the morning with an update..

I'm nervous that something is wrong with it. Seems odd they would have it for a week and not even let me know it had come in and for my sales guy to say the sales manager will call me in the morning.

I recommend you buy a pencil with your paint code where you pick up your car. You will be painting your Ford every month. The paint is very soft, and it's easy to get a chip after driving on the highway. There are more chips on a new car than a 10 year old car.

My 22 doesn't have any chips! On the other hand my wife's 23 Bronco Sport does. Some down to the metal.

I ordered my 24 Lariat in July of 23 and was told 6 months to a year for delivery. I was OK with that, I had two very reliable vehicles that I knew I could sell privately when the time came. February 3rd I got a call from my dealer saying my truck was in town but delivery was delayed because the keys were mysteriously locked in the vehicle. The next day I get a call from the dealer saying my vehicle was in, come and try it out. The sales person said we found a mark on the passenger side door front door and the B pillar. They couldn't figure out what it was but they had to repaint both the door window frame and the B pillar. Obviously a wedge had been used to get into the truck to unlock it . Both marks lined up perfectly. So I had to wait for the better part of the week to finally get my truck. Since then my driver's door has locked on me 4 times with the key fob in the truck, and the last time all four doors locked on me with the key fob in the truck. I thought the doors would always unlock if the key fob was left in the truck----guess not. Anyone else had this problem? I don't leave my key fob in it any more.

Lotsa people have posted about this. Numerous threads found in Search. Fortunately, I've never had the problem with my XL.

Get one of these from a locksmith. It's called a "test key" they sometimes use, before trying to cut a spare fob key for a customer. It can unlock the bed & door locks, but not start the truck.

My last truck was a red metallic color and was involved in an accident early on. The dealer's body shop replaced the LF fender and did an excellent paint job. But within a few years, the color looked very different than the rest of the truck. :(
Red fades faster than any other paint color. Of course, it will not be an issue if you change vehicles frequently.

Just for the hell of it, ask the dealer to NOT tell you where the damage is.
See if you can find it.
If you can’t, THEN have him tell you.
A good test of the repair quality.

I had a laser red mustang that the same thing happened.

Just got back from the dealership. They repainted the rear driver's side panel. They did a good job except for a small dent in the fuel door (they said they would fix it).

It looks pretty good in the pic, hopefully it looks good close up as well.

3/36 bumper to bumper will cover any issues with the paint fading in that location - or anywhere else. While 3 years is probably enough time to see issues, it might not be if it's driven few miles and garaged. Or conversely, if you drive a lot of miles (I was doing 23k a year, slowed a lot after my job changed) you could definitely get through the 36k miles and then it fades.

OP, did you buy it? If you haven't yet, I would ask if this dealership offers Ford SurfaceCare. It's just a ceramic coat but it does have a paint protection warranty. I have never considered it and don't know details about it, but I remember getting the pitch. (edit) That was an incomplete thought. If they do SurfaceCare I would try to get it free. I doubt that would happen, but your fallback is a discount and I guarantee you that literally every single thing the finance guy offers you can be negotiated. How much they move depends on the guy, his quota attainment, etc. But hey - never hurts to ask.

I didn't buy it yet.. Not sure I am. Sales manager said he would give me 20k for my current XLT that only has 6,300 miles on it. I was expecting closer to 25k. He says he's sitting on a lot of XL and XLTs he can't sell because of the rear camera issue. Payment would be $460 a month for the new one. I'm currently paying $300 on my 22. I will probably post a new thread about it.

get quotes on your current truck right now from carvana, vroom, carmax (probably requires in person visit), all of them.

they are not going to hold your truck long and you need to act fast. if someone shows up tomorrow and wants it bad enough, they're going to sell it. I am not trying to discourage you... I'm saying get other trade in / sale offers asap if you want that truck.
