Hello everyone,

I ordered my 2023 Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid (BAP AND LX PACKAGE) and it is going to be delivered by the end of the month-early June. I have been debating on if I want to sell my 2017 Lexus Is200t for the Maverick or to keep my current car. My only concern is reliability issues as we all know Lexus is known for being reliable, unlike the Maverick because there hasn't been enough data. If you have a HYBRID Maverick, please let me know if you have experience any issues or concerns with the car because I do not want to deal with car problems (headache)! Also if you have any opinions please let me know

I've had my hybrid for almost a year and 18000 miles. No problems except radio froze twice but fixed itself when restarted. Runs great and great gas mileage. I'd get it if I were you unless the dealer wants too much. You'd have no problem selling it yourself.

So, why did you order a Maverick? Do you want/need a truck? Did you want a hybrid for the fuel economy? My Maverick is supposed to be built next week so I dont have any info on its reliability, but I do know from personal experience that Lexus reliability and build quality is superb.

And if you go to the dealership for service, the Lexus experience is much nicer than what youre going to get at Ford. But, Ford knows how to make a good truck. Just remember the Maverick is the cheapest new truck available so expect cheaper materials and probably a little worse build quality than your current car. Thats just being realistic.

But at the end if the day, you’re the one that will be living with and using the vehicle, so don’t let strangers in an online forum decide which vehicle you will drive for the next few years.

I've only had mine a month, and maybe 700 miles. Probably not long enough to give a good idea of long-term status, but I'm very happy with mine. I had a 22 Eco that had absolutely no problems with, so I'm optimistic about the hybrid.

I've had 2 Ford C-Max hybrids and now have 550 miles on my 2023 Maverick. The old 2013 C-Max had a steering rack issue, but it spent its first years as a rental in Hawaii. Zero trouble in over 5 years with the 2017 C-Max, and of course no trouble with the Maverick. Ford has plenty of hybrid experience and I love mine. BUT, comparing a Lexus car with a Ford truck is no reasonable comparison. You want one or the other.

500 miles in and Mine has been rock solid. Few hick up with Android auto and the Infotainment system, but that's well documented.

I let them talk me into the warranty and Maintenance package as it was my First Ford and my first Hybrid, but my goal is to get at least 10 years out of this - I got 15 out of my Last truck

Two hybrids with about 10K combined and ZERO problems. Love the ride, love the economy of 40+ mpg and just a great vehicle. It is your decision as to what you want to drive. My old adage is "Your money so spend it like you want to." Just need to decide if you want an economical and versatile truck vs a car. Plain and simple.

Issue with the Mav ..drive the Lexus and vice-versa.

Keep in mind that you are comparing a six year old Lexus to a new Maverick. In ten years you would be comparing a 10 year old Maverick to a 16 year old Lexus that could have a lot of miles by then if it lasts that long.

A big factor is how many miles you drive each year and how many miles the Lexus already has on it.

I just got an Ecoboost for my wife. This will be the first Ford that we have owned since we normally buy Toyotas and Hondas. I have no illusions that a base $20K Ford that is a new model will be as reliable as a new car that is one of those brands.

We are retired and don't drive a lot of miles so we will be buying a Ford Extended Warranty from one of the discount sellers(Flood Ford or Grainger) that sell them at near cost so we will be able to get a 10 year/ 60k miles Premium Care (Ford's best) warranty for around $1,200. The Ford Pass points you get with a Maverick are worth around $200 so the net cost will be around $1,000.

We have a different car that we will use on road trips so it will be rare that out Maverick gets more than 50 miles from home so that 60K mile figure for us is reasonable.

Part of my reasoning is that with inflation the cost of the repairs will be higher 9 years from now. There is a good chance that we will sell it in 9.5 years when it has six months of warranty left which will help us get a high price for it.

If we don't need enough repairs in 10 years to get our $1,000 back then that will actually be good news since we will have had a reliable truck for 9.5 years.

While no extended warranty covers everything the idea of just being able to drop it off at the dealership when it needs work appeals to me to since I don't have a good mechanic that I trust.

If we drove a lot more miles each year and the extended warranty was a lot more expensive I might not buy it.

I will be selling my 2013 RX350 now that my hybrid Lariat lux has arrived. The Maverick still doesn't have features on a Lexus that's a 2013 like memory seats power passenger etc. Doesn't bother me that much but the differences are noticeable. The materials aren't as nice as the Lexus but the seat heaters are way better in the Maverick and the seats are pretty comfortable. Oh and heated steering wheel on the Maverick something that's awesome I'm the winter that my RX doesn't have. The NX200 is a turbo I believe which aren't as reliable as the NA variants of the NX from what I read. I've driven only about 680 miles so far so good. Got way more compliments driving it than I did with the RX if you're into that kind of thing. I think you'll be fine.

Had mine 14 months now. 23,000 miles.

Averaged over 40mpg since day one and that includes trips up Georgia, Northern Michigan and Iowa and Minnesota.

Also about 2000 miles pulling a small trailer of varying weight. One time easily maxing out the 2k towing limit.

Only issue has been, as stated the non lux radio gave a black screen after start up. Put it in reverse and the camera came on and back in drive it went to the regular gray screen for audio. It did that twice in about a day. Never again or before.

One time it felt like it miss shifted (I know not technically) when it switched from hybrid to battery like the engine lugged. If you feather the throttle you'll know where I mean. If you're gonna let off in hybrid to switch to charging and into battery mode just let it. Don't slowly let off the throttle.

Never had it do it again and I've tried to recreate the problem but couldn't.

Also the rear seat back... To close it you have to slam it a lot harder than you think you should to get it to lock.

Why did you order one if you are not sure you are going to keep it?

I love this truck to death! I've had my XL hybrid for 8 months now, 11,500 miles, got the airbag recall done & it came back with the check engine light on. They tell me it has a faulty muffler, they've ordered a replacement and it's on backorder. I'm still driving it despite the light, which they told me was ok to do. Very comfortable to drive (I'm 6'6"), which my 2002 Tacoma was not. I did buy the extended warranty, so I'm good for any future issues. I think you should expect a few kinks in the beginning with any vehicle. A Maverick being built now won't need the airbag recall, so one less issue to deal with. Overall I'm very, very happy with it. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat!

I've had my 22 lariat hybrid for about a year and 16k miles with no major problems. Just normal maintenance, a couple of recalls and a couple of software updates for the brakes. You'll find maintenance is less expensive than a Lexus.
